Ranked #2,698 of 27,651 Restaurants in London
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: $10 - $32
Description: Whether you’re a wolf of the City Square Mile, a Hoxton hipster or an overseas visitor in search of that corner of London town that is forever KC, Bodean’s extends a wide-open welcome at the sign of the golden pig. Since opening our first branch in 2002, Bodean’s is the first choice destination for slow-cooked, low-smoked barbecue lovers here in town and worldwide. Nor are we just talking one nation under a porker, but prime beef, USDA, wings, slow smoked Tri-Tip Brisket and seriously hearty veggie options too. What better than a prime location where alternative London overlaps with the world-class business capital, Bodean’s in Old Street is where it is at.

We visited as a couple at around 5:30pm on a Friday evening. The restaurant was very quiet with not many other customers, the waiting staff took this as an opportunity to chill out as a group in the restaurant with shouting and swearing amongst them for us to hear, this gives you an idea what sort of place this is. The restaurant itself is decorated well, and I think with a few more people could be a good atmosphere. We ordered our starter to share and mains; the waitress couldn't speak very good English and was hard to understand. After 30 mins no sign of our starters which we were annoyed about as it was so dead and we had to be somewhere at 6:50pm. 5 minutes later our mains arrived to our surprise, we asked about the starters and I think the penny dropped that either she or the kitchen had forgot. She was going to take the mains away but as the steak was £25 and on a hot stone, we didn't want it sitting under a hot lamp for 10 minutes to dry out, so we had it and had our starters on the side which was annoying. The food was just ok, for the price we expected amazing, but it was just average, nothing to write home about and not as good as TGI Fridays (Sorry!). The milkshake desert was extremely nice and the best I’ve had. For 1 drink each (one non-alcoholic), 1 starter, 2 mains and milkshakes for both of us the bill was £81! That included a 10% service charge which I’m surprised they had the audacity to include after messing our meal up! No offer of taking off the starter or service charge as an apology/compensation, nope, nothing! Very shocking place and won't be returning, stay well clear! We had Nando’s the next door the following night as a quick and cheap bite which we enjoyed much more and that was £25!

We are regulars at Bodean's Old Street, and we love it! They show American sports (plus Premier League, rugby, etc.), and the BBQ food is some of the best in London. We also really enjoy the Super Bowl event every year, and they stay open for the entire game. You get a ton of food plus a pint of beer in the Super Bowl event package, and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend it!

From Friendly staff to great BBQ food.

I’ve visited this Bodean’s restaurant several times. The food has always been delicious, the sharing platters are a must with good selection of tasty meats.

I’ve always found the staff friendly and tentative.

Good range of drinks from spirits to lagers!

Hope to be back soon.

Had the buffalo chicken burger and fries. Ho hum. Chicken overcooked, fries scattered across the plate. C'mon guys - you can do better than this!
