We spent the weekend here because we wanted to explore Hackney. Both checking in and checking was courteous, friendly and efficient. The bathroom was modern and clean; the room was clean and the bed sheets crisp and clean as well. A short walk to the Broadway market on Saturday and another short walk to the flower market on Sunday.

I stayed here for approximately 3 weeks for a work trip and found the location was good for us. It is a bit of a walk to an overground station (10 mins) but it didn’t bother us. However, after reading some of the other reviews, I also found that the reception staff were quite rude. After staying there for 3 weeks you'd have thought that they would acknowledge at some point that we were regular guests and say hello! But unfortunately not. There were a couple of reception staff who were pleasant, but in my personal experience I found that it felt like they were doing you a favour when you asked for another wifi code/to be let into the car park etc.

With that in mind, the car parking system is utterly ridiculous. The carpark is underground, accessible via a car lift outside at the back of the building. Upon arriving at the hotel, you park your car in front of the outdoor lift, get out the car, walk to the front of the building, go inside and ask at reception for them to come and open the lift, which then takes another 10 minutes. Surely there is a better system, a key card perhaps, especially if you're in a hurry and there is a huge queue of people waiting to check in at reception or if its absolutely chucking down with rain!
The wifi was terrible, although I was told they were switching providers due to the amount of complaints.

Breakfast was fine, restaurant food was overpriced but agree the bar food menu offered cheaper options.

On the positive side, the rooms were clean and quiet, beds were comfy and I had a pleasant stay, I just wish the reception staff were slightly more welcoming!

The hotel overall was fairly nice. But you can likely find better value for the money and closer to the city center as well. Look around. The closest tube station is about a 10 minute walk away, which we found rather inconvenient. The 55 bus worked for us to get to some location though.

We first stayed on the 2nd floor and couldn't connect to the wifi. I immediately called the front desk to let them know of our problem. The front desk person acknowledged there is a problem with the wifi on the 2nd floor and offered to move us to a 3rd floor room only if we hadn't used anything in the room yet. We hadn't gotten under the covers, made coffee, taken showers or anything. We only used the toilet and sat on the bed. So I told her we hadn't used anything. Upon getting into our 3rd floor room, we received an angry phone call accusing us of lying because she checked the room and said it was evident we had used it. The rude desk agent even suggested to us that we be more truthful the next time we speak to people and scolded us for lying to her. Wow!

Anyhow, the wifi on the 3rd floor connected, but was very slow. If you red solid wifi, don't stay here. No breakfast included. The room itself was fine and what you'd expect from a 3 or 4 star hotel. Instant coffee was available in the room. Restaurant was pricey, but the bar had happy 2-1 happy hour. Otherwise had a fine stay.

Yet if in London, I would not stay here again primarily due to its wifi, inconvenient location, and the poor value for our money spent. There are better options out there. (Oh, and I don't want to run into the front desk person who I apparently upset a lot.)

Room Tip: 2nd floor wifi wasn't working.

I've stayed here about 10 times over the last 12 months. It's hard to find a London hotel room with the same sort of space for the price. Only had one poor experience when I got a room on the ground floor near reception. Lots of noise, from 4am in the morning. Now I always ask for a room on 1st floor or higher, plus it's worth asking for a room that faces onto the centre of the hotel. Wifi speed is hit and miss, but it is free.

Restaurant offers a decent menu, but it hasn't changed since I've started saying and the staff are not the most attentive when it comes to the small things like getting some vinegar!

Not many other places to eat close by, but I haven't spent much time searching. Worth talking a walk in towards Liverpool St, Columbia Road is on the way and as the hotel web site address hints it is close (but not in) Shoreditch - which is well worth exploring.

No problem recommending this place - good VFM, clean, plenty of space and decent staff.

A friendly clean hotel convenient for London tourist sights. The staff seemed genuinely happy to see us and greeted us each time with a smile and a 'good morning' good evening'. The room was spotless and had the usual offices.

Booked through last minute a week before but was quizzed at the front desk for 25 mins about when I booked for some unknown reason??? Hotel state on arrival that they want to put a £50 hold on credit card (not advised of till arrived) for potential damage to the room. Not really impressed with that.

Room was OK, double room had 2 single beds made up and pushed together though, and were on wheels which resulted in a few involuntary and unexpected falling out of bed moments. Not great.

No WiFi in hotel room. Pretty rubbish. Ice machines all broken. :/

Oh, and thanks for the random (and not the advised scheduled Monday morning test) fire alarm sounding in the morning that didn't result in any kind of fire drill or evacuation. Twice.

Welcome to RE. Don't think we'd recommend it to anyone we like.

The best reception of a young fresh man at the front desk who would recommended good places to eat late and great breakfast (after we had indicated that we did not want this at the hotel)

There are lots of things to see, but try the breakfast at La Bouch!
