Our friends live nearby so suggested we go here for breakfast. I had the French toast which was light and fluffy inside, crispy outside and served with berries and yoghurt. Delicious. My wife had eggs benedict which were perfectly cooked and filling. Great service and ambience helped make this a lovely way to start the day.

Unexpected to find this little gem which friends booked for a Saturday night double date. Really good food, very well presented. Service was a little slow but it was busy and staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return, nice atmosphere, cosy decor and good food. What's not to like? Only pointer is that some of the front table had stools, not chairs, which would be uncomfortable for some, otherwise a goodie.

Lively atmosphere and gorgeous food, the buttermilk chicken burger was amazing! Service was friendly but also a little slow at times. Our reservation hadn't been written in the diary but they were still able to find us a table...may be better to phone rather than email with bookings.

Will definitely go back.

Went for our Xmas evening out with friends from work. Good service, but mixed experience overall. Some starters excellent - small red peppers and cheese particularly - but the thai-style fishcakes disappointing - plenty of substantial texture, but pretty dull/tasteless. Mains mixed as well: beef plate pie and sweet potato pie really appreciated, but my fish and chips not up to the mark: good fish, but the chips were disappointing - if supposed to be thrice-cooked they missed a stage, and the mushy peas OKish. After eating these in paradise - Hix's place in Lyme Regis - I may have unrealistic expectations, but Eat17 presents as a sophisticated eatery, and should know better. Another disappointment was when a vegetarian friend asked if the quince jelly with the cheese platter was made with (animal product) gelatine: the waitress didn't understand the question at first, then said she'd go and ask, and didn't come back. Hardly progressive these days. But, to be fair, the cheese was really good! Also, a pretty good wine selection. The service was mixed: mostly friendly, apart from one guy with a disdainful air - luckily, we didn't see much of him. Generally, the group had a good time, so maybe I'm picky, but I expect restaurants to deliver - at whatever level they present. OK, but I wouldn't rush back there. Clientele very "village" - which may suit you .....

I have been a frequent diner at Eat 17 since it opened and have always meant to put a review on the net but never got round to it before...so here goes.

Quite simply Eat 17 serves the best Sunday Roast I have come across. It beats the Bell, the Castle and other competitors in Walthamstow (all of whom serve decent offerings) hands down. And not just in Walthamstow...you will find it a challenge to get a better Sunday Roast in London- I have tried! The breakfast menu is pretty damn good as well.

The staff too are wonderful- attentive but not intrusive and nothing is too much trouble- particular mention should go to David who is just fab. You cant book on a Sunday but definitely worth the wait.
