“Average in every way”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

Went early on a Saturday evening without a reservation. Fixed price of £30 for three courses and a Mojito (which is a tenner) which intially seemed like reasonable value. Starters were ok but both mains were poor quality and as noted by other reviewees taste like mass produced catering. My daughters steak was tasty but was not medium as requested. Bill for three of including 12.5% service charge was £132 which considering we only had one other drink can not be considered good value for the food we had. Also worth noting is that the there is no prices for individual items even on the a la carte menu as they expect everyone to have 2 or 3 courses so had to negotiate a price for my daughters steak - annoying.

Service was polite enough but so quick to be annoying (staff obviously not having enough to do early in the evening) so plates vanished within a second of putting a fork down.

We only caught the start of one band who were ok but pretty much background music which is fine as it was early.

Probably better to go here later for drinks and the music and avoid the food.

“Go early!”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

I ate at Floridita early, before the theatre, and reading other reviews I'm glad to have visited when it was empty; our food was superb, and as the only table in there, service was brilliant too. The pre-theatre menu is really good value and the lighting and music (not live at 5pm of course) meant that the atmosphere was good despite the restaurant being completely empty. Compared to other pre-theatre set menus in Soho theirs is interesting and varied, portions were perfect, and the food was zingy and enjoyable.

“Big night out but a little disapoointed.”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

A group of us (12) visited Floridita for a friends 40th birthday. She had booked a table for dinner. ALl drinks are basically £10 a glass, whatever cocktails you choose or wines. The food was average, ok for mass catering but not fantastic. When we ordered drinks with our waiter, they took ages to come and it was quicker to get up and go to the bar and order ourselves. It was advertised as latin music and dancing till midnight then a DJ, we were there till 2am and still no DJ, latin all night, which is ok if you can cha cha cha or do the salsa but gets a bit much. The dance floor is soooooo small and is absolutely packed with wet sweaty geeky men trying to gyrate with you. All we wanted want to have a dance together, a few girls but it was so packed you kept getting sweat flicked on you, was awful. Such a shame as a good atmosphere and all under one roof but would not return and was quite expensive.

“Good music shame about the food!”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

If the food is good, paying for it when it is expensive it does not matter. It hurts to pay when the quality is poor. We had a ceviche that was so spicy the fish flavour was lost. My steak was tough and hard to chew. We did not bother with desert. I felt I wasted my money and would not recommend the food. I found the service attentive and professional, with the staff obviously well trained. I recommend this place for a drink and to listen to very good Latin bands.
