We visit London once or twice a year from our home in Japan (spouse is Japanese) and we always go here for dinner.
The food is without exception perfectly cooked and delicious. A real authentic taste.
But, not just the standard Japanese cuisine, they make good use of the ingredients available in the UK and Europe. A dish that really stood out on our second last visit (we are still talking about it!) was Fois Gras on simmered Daikon. I'm not a fan of fois gras but combined with the diakon (giant radish) it was fantastic. Perfectly cooked tempura, wonderful sushi and sashimi (I think I heard that the owner actually is a fish supplier to London restaurants and you can tell he's getting the best quality fish for his restaurant), noodles, etc... I've never had anything less than delicious.
We have made in-roads in to their Drink Menu, lots of good Nihonshu sake, but this sometimes gets expensive if you are not paying attention.
The interior is not stylish at all but still authentically Japanese, not the best ambiance for a romantic date but the food is so good who cares! There are two floors with the clean but utilitarian loos downstairs.
The location is very good. Just 5 mins walk from Oxford Street. And ususally when we've been, the customers are mostly Japanese, always a good sign.
