Description: Theo Randall's passion for simple, rustic Italian fare took him from Chez Panisse in California to Head Chef and Partner at The River Café. In 2006, Theo brought this experience to the prestigious address of No 1, Park Lane when he opened Theo Randall at the InterContinental. His unwavering dedication has earned him the respect of his peers, many industry accolades and awards, and a loyal following of diners. The restaurant continues to exemplify Theo's signature style of showcasing the best of Italian cuisine in a buzzing restaurant setting. The daily changing menu is inspired by his regular trips to Italy and dictated by the best seasonal ingredients available from the market every day. Theo has personally overseen the extensive wine list that features 90% Italian varietals, including a selection of Grappas. The spacious dining room offers views onto the theatre of the chefs in action and the stylish lounge bar presents informal counter-top dining for lunch or dinner, as well as an extensive drinks menu. Since its launch in 2006, Theo Randall at the InterContinental has won numerous awards, including Best Italian Restaurant of The Year from the London Restaurant Awards. The restaurant was a key contributing factor behind the accolade of Best Hotel in the UK for Food, from Condé Nast Traveller and it continues to be recognised by the Sunday Times Food List, the National Restaurant Awards and The London Lifestyle Awards.

Theo Randall at the InterContinental London was a good find. Excellent Bellinis to start - in fact best ever - outstanding wine and after dinner drinks served by our Sicilian waiter. Starter of crab was really good, pasta main course not quite as good and dessert of clementine sorbet was to die for. However, word of warning, try not to use the banquette seats as they are very uncomfortable and leave you with back ache. All that apart, I would go back to Theo Randall and make a better choice for main course next time. Waiter was outstanding and really made our visit a great experience.

The experience badly in that we decided to have a drink in the bar at the Intercontinental. We sat waiting for 15 minutes - no one acknowledged us let alone offer us a drinks menu!! Even when we stood up to leave no one approached us. Did manage to get drinks in a different bar - speedy service in this bar until it came to paying!! Moved into Theo Randalls, we were stunned to see that only 4 tables were taken. Some what surprising for a Friday lunchtime! The service wasnt great (wine didnt arrive) and food even worse. My no cook sister could have made a better starter; we had to ask what one blob of yuck was because it unrecognisable. To top the food off, I had hair (not from someones head) in my risotto! From there they tried to make amends with desserts we hadnt ordered). We asked for some items to be taken off the bill but ironically they left the service charge on.... Weve eaten in some lovely places in London who have really got it right; Theo you've really got it wrong. The lack of diners says it all!!

There can be very few restaurants in central London where you can eat so well and enjoy such excellent service at such a reasonable price.

Our friends had reserved through ‘toptable’ and the four of us had a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable lunch.

Our incredible value meal started with a complimentary glass of Prosecco, followed by tasty bruschetta, focaccia and pieces of parmigiano. A two-course set menu, with a small but interesting choice of Italian-style dishes, followed. All proved to be absolutely delicious! We finished with sharing samples of three delicious desserts and the bill arrived with little biscotti and some chocolate truffles.

Service from friendly and knowledgeable staff was excellent and unobtrusive. As we were about to leave, noticing our inquisitive glances towards the immaculate stainless-steel kitchen, the door was opened, we were invited to take a closer look, and were warmly welcomed by renowned chef Theo Randall himself!

All this cost us the princely sum of £27 each (+ 12.5% service). Okay, two glasses of wine added another £10 to the bill and, if we’d had time for coffee, that would have set us back another £6 or so each – but for just over £30 each we had a very special couple of hours.

Comparing our experience to that of other recent reviewers, we are puzzled. We have to assume that those eating à la carte at dinnertime had high prices with expectations to match. We paid relatively low prices for our lunches – and our expectations were exceeded with every bite!

Note that the restaurant is expected to close for a month in the near future for total refurbishment, so be sure to book in advance.

The food was very good but not exceptional considering the prices. The restaurant is very nice but there is little atmosphere or ambiance. The service is very good.
On the whole a nice experience but at £300 for two not greatly impressed.

The food is very average considering its prices. We had to wait a while for our table and waited even longer for our order to be taken, this also includes the wine. Our table was lovely and spaced out well but I think for a London restaurant they need to improve the food. I was amazed they didn't know how to make a baileys coffee with no cream. After the 2nd attempt I sent it back and asked for it to be removed from the bill. Overall a average place and meal.
