“There are better Indian restaurants in Islington”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

The trouble with being a tourist anywhere is you end up going to the places that are easy to find, not the ones which do the best food

So it is with Massala Zone on Islington Green

Massala Zone is basically a chain Indian restaurant concept which is a bit long in the tooth with the distinguishing feature of a thali type optio offering small tasters of numerous dishes with rice and naan for a relatively low fixed price

Unfortunately the overall quality of the curries and other dishes is at best....hmm....okay-ish

I find the sauce a bit cloying and the quality of the cooking not the best

If you would like an outstanding Indian restuarant experience in Islignton I can recommend the nearby Delhi-Grill in Chapel Market which is somewhere we keep going back to again and again

“Good quality and value Indian food”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

Masala Zone in London is a safe bet if you're looking for good quality Indian food at a decent price.
There are several locations in different neighborhoods, I tried 3 of them and they're all good, my favorite is the one in Islington because it's very spacious and... easy to find! But I recommend all of these restaurants if you're not quite sure where to go for an Indian!!!

“Good value and well put together dishes”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Very good food and larges plates. A little of everything.

The thali I had was delicious and extremely good value. Spicy but flavorsome and not in the least bit oily. Nice vibe too

A delightful place. The street food is as good as any I had in india.
The thalis area genuine treat - varied & plentiful.
The decor was fun, and service friendly.

“Tasty curries”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Its casual dining indian style the thali was really good and the curries hit the right note. The lamb rogan josh was nice and the spicy mutton kohlapuri dish with aniseeds was gorgeous. The price was reasonable one downside was the service needs to be improved as the service team did not really know the product.
