“Excellent London hotel in a great location”
Reviewed January 6, 2010

We stayed at the Andaz on New Year's Eve and from the moment we arrived we were not disappointed.

There is no reception as such, you check in with a member of staff on a 'roaming' laptop which is very informal and easy. When we arrived there were candy canes and cookies available to guests and all of the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Our kingbed room was a good size for a London hotel and clean and quiet, considering how close it is to Liverpool Street station.

After a walk before dinner we were offered champagne and canapes on our return (this could be because it was New Year's Eve!)

We ate in two of the hotels restaurants, east way for lunch and 1901 for dinner. Both were delicious with excellent service and good value for money.

The building that the Andaz occupies has been renovated to a high, modern standard although they have kept the character and charm of the old building.

The added touches such as the free non-alcoholic mini bar, complimentary nibbles and free wi-fi for 24 hours all add to the experience.

We would definitely stay here again if we were staying in London.

We visited the Andaz for New Years eve, and from arriving to leaving it was just brillaint. We wanted a quality hotel with good leisure facilities and within easy reach of the waterloo fireworks and the Andaz ticked both boxes.

From arriving at the Andaz it took all of 3 minutes to check in, we were greeted pleasantly on arrival and invited to take a comfy seat and offered a drink.

The room was lovely, massive bed, clean, free healthy mini bar, everything.

We then went for lunch to Farringdon, this took about 5 minutes as the tube is directly outside the hotel with great links to most lines. Getting back to the Andaz we had a drink in the George, the pub that is part of the hotel, couldn't fault it.

Evening, we decided to try the cocktail bar in the hotel, this was stunning. The whole setting was beatiful from the music to the cocktails. The sevice was professional but not one bit pretentious. We would have eaten but it was fully booked, shame as it looked divine.

After music and cocktails we changed and got the bus to the waterloo fireworks, again the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Fireworks over we walked back to the hotel, this took about 25 minutes. Not to sure how others can say this hotel is not central as in my opinion it is perfect for everything, what is 'central' london anyway as it just depends on where you stay and what you want to see.

Breakfast was in the eastway cafe / restaurant, again just right.

All in all a great stay, and made even more perfect as my other half said yes to my marriage proposal on NYE.

We are Hyatt Gold Passport members that allowed us to check out later so would recommend this to anyone.

fantastic hotel fantastic location, room superb and bathroom as well.
Full size proper hairdryer next to light and mirror!!!!
breakfast excellent all though a little expensive at £20 per person.
Great pub across the road called The White Hart good food and good prices.
Breakfast was £4,50 for full English and a hot drink.
We stayed over the New Year and you need to be aware most drinking and eating venues were not open on New Years Day.

We arrived at the hotel at 9am, expecting to just leave our bags until check-in. Luckily, the helpful staff in reception checked us in then. at no extra charge, which was a massive bonus!

Overall, the hotel was excellent but was slightly let down by a few niggly problems.
The communal areas were all gorgeous and beautifully designed, as were the bars and restaurants. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with a great bed and bed linen. The bathroom was stylish with lovely REN toilettries.

However, the room was slightly let down by a few points. Namely, excessively loud plumbing: the toilet flushed like an aeroplane toilet and every time the bath or sink were emptied there was the same loud noise which continued for quite a few minutes. Also, the shower dripped continuously, so much so that we had to tie a towel around it to minimise the noise.

The air conditioning did not seem to work, which was reported. An engineer came to our room almost immediately, but unfortunately this did not seem to make much of an impact. Despite outside temperatures being freezing, the room was constantly too hot.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Andaz, as we got a very reasonable rate including breakfast for such a good hotel. However, if the hotel could resolve these small issues, it would be a really great hotel.

The hotel is extremely nice and elegant with great, large rooms. Immaculate, but slightly outside of central, though the tube is literally next door and so is a cab stand so its quite convenient for travelling within the city.

This hotel is not very close to central London and the photos are a little exagerrated. The rooms have a view of the building next door and are very expensive.

If you are staying in London for a couple of days thare are better value hotels and more central to theatres and shops.

The breakfast is average and this seems to be a hotel that is used by city bankers who are nor paying their own bills and are using this as a corporate hotel and don't worry about value for money.

I travel a lot on business throughout North America and Europe, and I don’t impress easily. However, the effortless check-in process – at 7:00 in the morning no less! – the scale and decor of the room I received (and the fruit juices in the minibar!), the courteous and attentive service provided by your staff throughout my stay and the impressive selection of bars and restaurants onsite were very, very impressive.

I’ve never written a fan letter to a hotel before, and I don’t expect to do so again, but my experience at the Andaz Liverpool Street was really quite beyond what I expect when travelling on business. Well done.
