Big old stone building with hardwood floors serving a full range of Milton Brewery ales from wood casks plus a couple of guests. We went on a recent Sunday for lunch which has a restricted menu to accommodate the stonking Sunday roasts coming out of the kitchen. The wife had tagliatelle with crab and I had a monster piece of haddock in a thin crispy batter and good chips. Both very good. I can recommend the home made pizzas from a previous visit.

I often taken my son there for dinner and he loves it: great pizzas and other dishes for under £10.
Great atmosphere.

We read the reviews on Trip Advisor and looked at the website as we needed a family friendly venue to book a table for 12 after a trip to Hackney Empire. We liked the look of the pub and the menu and called to book a table. We were told that we could not book but that the manager would be happy to prepare a table for 12 at our alloted time of 4.30pm.
We arrived to find the pub was a little more rough and ready than the pictures on the website. Also the bar people had no idea that the table had been prepared for us even though ti was right under their noses. One person was very unhelpful and really didn't seem to care if we stayed or went. However, there was another girl behind the bar who was more pleasant and tried to help us a little more. We placed our order and were then told that we could not run a tab, even with a card behind the bar ! No mention of this on the website or when we were on the phone. The food was mediocre but the wine list and other drinks were pretty good and the place was certainly packed out by the time we left. Won't be going back

This is for me the definition of a pub - public house. Big, spacious room with lots of tables filled with people just in from a day of work having a pint and some food. The food was really good (I had pizza) and the beer even better. They had a wide selection of locally brewed ales and also a variation. The Stout and the IPA was very good.
