One would imagine that being charged £25 for two pints and two glasses of wine would be the worst that could happen at one of Hampstead's largest and best appointed al-fesco dining destinations, but one would be wrong! On a rare sunny Sunday lunchtime in May there was no dining out doors due to "staff shortages". Our offer to collect the order indoors - to transport it outdoors - was also denied as "there will be no-one to collect the plates". For a large and generally well run gastro pub, this was an extraordinary situation and our surprise was echoed around the beer garden....at almost every table!
