Whenever I'm in London I always go to Flat White - coffee is excellent. Genuinely friendly staff. Surprising number of seats for a small space which provides a cosy spot to enjoy your coffee if you have time. Nice pastries and brownies too!

Ok, let's get it out of the way early... This place is waaaay to cool for Skool! A coffee geeks paradise with attention to detail and quality at the forefront.

The coffee is amazing, a double espresso from here and you'll be buzzing for an hour and your taste buds will relish the experience. This is coffee as its meant to be made, no frills and no buckets of milk with a dash of coffee. Try a flat white here and you'll see that the chains poor imitation is just that.

Popular with media types and the hip and cool, but also the market traders from Berwick Street.

Coffee is great, but what happened to customer service? Have been here many times because the coffee is great but the service gets worse! Now there are some other places to get s great coffee I regrettably won't be back :(

Tucked away on Berwick Street in London's West End, Flat White is a small, straightforward café serving tea, coffee and a small choice of breakfasts and sandwiches.

With tables and stools squeezed into this small café, there's little elbow room and almost no space for queuing customers (and there are no toilet facilities). That said, it's cosy and doesn't feel too crowded. The décor is very basic: not immaculate but serviceable.

The coffee, which we were told was superb, turned out to be pretty average but certainly not unpleasant. My latte had a slightly bitter aftertaste but was otherwise OK and the signature flat white was similar.

The food (we had poached eggs with ham and a red pepper and goat's cheese sandwich) was tasty and just enough for a light breakfast / brunch, with decent quality ingredients. The menu choice is fairly brief but that fits in with the size and feel of the café.

Service was decent and the staff were polite enough. The tables, however, weren't very clean and an occasional wipe after each customer would have helped. Similarly, the glassware and cutlery wasn’t exactly sparkling.

There are lots of small, simple cafés just like this all over London and many of the alternatives are probably cleaner and a bit more spacious. There's nothing wrong with Flat White but nothing made it especially memorable for us.

Don't mind it being crowded - there's a good reason for that. They serve the best coffee in London.

Just don't order any other kind than their signature 'Flat White' (if you'd like to have other type you should just head over to a Monmouth). And forget food... there are much better places around for food.

I love coffee and I've tried all of the highly regarded coffee spots in central London (and others all over the world including places in many cities in Italy) and this is by far my favorite milk type coffee.
