“Great ambience, lovely meal”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

We wanted something special for our Christmas lunch get together, and affordable. This place was a good choice for that. Really lovely, very relaxing and friendly, great atmosphere and buzz. Spacious tables, no banging elbows. The three courses set menu for £29 was very good value, and had a lot of choices for a set menu, which also included the dish of the day. We all had a different dish, and it was all delicious, all really nicely presented. The 63 degree free range British egg, smoked haddock and spinach for the starter was perfection. They even had gluten free bread when requested. Service was friendly, welcoming and unobtrusive, and wines were affordable. All rounded off with some sublime desserts which included a Christmassy yulelog. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks for the great feedback. following your recent visit. The festive menu has gone down a storm this year with the Yule Log a particular favorite.

We hope to see you again in the New Year.

With kind regards

“Expensive but tasty”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

Had a nice meal here with my boyfriend last winter. It was surprisingly busy for a Saturday night in its location but created a welcomed buzz for the restaurant.

We had a couple of drinks outside on the rooftop which was pleasant and well heated before being seated.

The waiters were exceptionally helpful and explained anything that we questioned about dishes to the highest standard.

For around 2/3 courses each and a couple of bottles of wine the bill did exceed £200 but this is expected when alcohol is included.

I would come back here but it is not an every night venue.

Many thanks for your feedback.

I am very pleased you had such a great time with your boyfriend on your recent visit. The weekends are a great time to visit as there is still a good buzz about the place.

We hope to see you again soon.

“Poor breakfast”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

had scrambled egg and salmon with toast and asked for eggs on the runny side. the toast was cold, dry and served on the plate without butter. The eggs were a very small portion, dried up and under seasoned served with one slice of salmon - very stingy. Cost £35 for two which was vastly overpriced but was very quiet

I am so sorry for your disappointing experience with us during breakfast. we usually have very positive feedback about our breakfast fare, I have spoken to chef regarding your comments and he has assured me he will be monitoring the breakfast shift a lot more closely in future.

“Not all it's cracked up to be”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

We went with a group of friends for Sunday Lunch at this renowned restaurant, planning to take advantage of the Sunday Lunch offer (£26 for 2 courses, £29 for 3 courses... excluding drinks).

We arrived a little while before our lunch booking at 1pm. Great location, but the place was virtually empty and lacking an atmosphere.

Enjoyed pre-dinner drinks in the terrace area which was fine - though rubbish tables you couldn't lean on without spilling everything!

Lunch was, unfortunately quite disappointing. There's what seems like quite an exciting menu with plenty of choice and some lovely sounding options, which sadly didn't live up to expectations - Oysters (supplement payable!) were apparently good, but red onion tart was very ordinary and mushroom starter was really not a good dish. The roast beef and lamb mains were pretty good (though they should be as simple dishes), but lobster (supplement!) was cold, and very small, leaving one person hungry after starter and main. I had venison for which came with no veg or potatoes, so had to order an additional side dish of roast veg to accompany what was a small amount of venison - though it did taste good.Desserts were ok - good selection of cheeses (supplement!) and the others were fine.

House wine was not particularly good - pretty insipid despite what is supposed to be a great selection of wines. They even ran out of the house wine after a couple of bottles, but at least the replacement was a little better than the house one.

Total bill for 6 of us (admittedly we drank quite a bit) was about £550!!!

All in all, a pretty disappointing experience. OK it's a trendy London venue and you expect to pay a bit for it, but for that money I would expect much better than we experienced. We've certainly had much better meals at equally as auspicious restaurants in London at better prices.

I am very sorry you did not enjoy the food and wine on your recent visit. I have obviously passed on your comments to the Head Chef and I assure you we take feedback such as yours very seriously indeed.

I do hope you will give us the opportunity of changing your opinion of us, if so please book directly with myself on seang@danddlondon.com where I will be more than happy to look after your reservation.

“Very nice”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

Booked for dinner at 8.00pm on a Saturday. Warm welcome on arrival, staff were friendly and the service was excellent throughout. Sommelier was very knowledgeable. Food was very good as expected. The foie gras was exceptional. Only downside to Coq d'Argent was the price of drinks at the bar to the rear of the restaurant. A double vodka lemonade, double vodka redbull and two shots came to £65. All in all a very pleasant night, was not disappointed.
