Hidden away on Heath Street in Hampstead, London, you would never find it if you didnt know where to look. No flashing neon here - just a tiny sign - in Japanese. Small too is the actual eating space. But crammed in around an open, bustling kitchen is part of the homey charm. The real pleasure arrives on a plate: oudon noodles straight from downtown Tokyo, teriyake prawns like no other, black cod seared to perfection, and black seaweed to die for. No wonder you have to book well in advance and be willing to take a table at set times. Not cheap, mind you, but well worth it for an unusual night out.
