Description: Welcome to Chettinad, the world of phenomenal South Indian cuisine. Chettinad is a small village in the Southern Tamil Nadu State of India. Chettinad is known for its culinary delicacies and now is one of the many reasons why people get to know Chettinad. We are a no fuss, no frill, stylish, laid back diner, who just speaks of truly and honest South Indian food in the heart of Central London. We only know how to cook-up good home comfort authentic food freshly made to order with understated approach to service. No meal is complete without traditional Dosa, lentil pancake eaten any time during the day. Well! Certainly it isn't just another Curry House!!! "Ideal place to try something new if you are a South Indian food virgin" Back home in Chettinad, your dishes are served on a huge fresh banana leaf, a disposable platter. Contact with your food is direct and tactile as you eat with your right hand, mixing wet into dry ingredients - a messy business for the uninitiated. In Chettinad Restaurant here, we want you to experience authentic original flavours, therefore you would find some of our dishes served with fresh banana leaf. Today we appreciate and respect that you have entrusted your palate to us, we will take great loving care and take your taste buds on a journey where each mouthful sings a new magical ''WOW'' note. Enjoy your meal at Chettinad- The Village Restaurant, where "QUALITY MEETS TRADIITON"

Visited for a family meal last Saturday evening. Our son did the research based on Trip Advisor and found the Chettinad. This was our first visit and definitely won't be our last. Our primary waiter was Masud and he really made made an effort to make our visit special.
Food and service were both really excellent by any standard and represented great value for money. We arrived half an hour before our booking time and the staff were really friendly and showed us straight to our table. Most impressive.

We made a last minute decision to pop out for some Indian cuisine and looked to Trip Advisor for something local to us and authentic.....

The restaurant was half full when we arrived at 7:30 and we were shown to a comfortable table by the Manager, service was then handled by Masud, he could not have been more attentive and helpful. Taking time to introduce us to the menu and asking what style of spice we preferred, Masud made the recommendations and away we went on a trip through some of southern India's finest.
By the time we had finished our starters the restaurant was pretty much full, (plenty are not nearly as busy on a Monday evening in Soho), and you can see why. This place clearly trades on its reputation and we shall be back on our next visit to Town.

If you like deep flavours, some big and some more subtle and you enjoy a detour away from 'traditional' Anglo Indian, this is the place for you. Enjoy!

The first restaurant we visit when we return to London. Wonderful, helpful service from our waiter Masud. Lamb Madras was tender, rich and full of flavour. Chettinadu Kolli, a cumin flavoured chicken dish that paired perfectly with tomato rice, was similarly tender. Both dishes gradually built heat without being hot by south Indian standards. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting London who doesn't want to pay London prices - great value and flavour!
