Description: Barrafina is an authentic Spanish tapas bar located in London's Soho. It serves a traditional but contemporary, regional a la carte menu and there is a daily blackboard of specials, created by Executive Head Chef, Barragan Mohacho. Barrafina operates a first come first serve queuing system, and does not take reservations for their 23 stools. However, part of the fun of dining there is eating little bites and sipping on something delicious while making the line. The kitchen is open and guests are close to all the action and drama while their food is prepared.

Dishes served around the bar/counter, food is excellent & feels like a unique London twist on the tapas bar genre. A must visit!

“The best tapas ever - and we have a house in Spain!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

We were given the Barrafina cook book as present from our family who had stayed in our house in Spain. When we visited London this weekend, my husband surprised me by taking me there for lunch. Knowing queues are a problem, he made sure we were there quite early. Hand on heart their tapas is really was the best food we have ever tasted, and we eat at top quality places a lot! the staff were brilliant, explaining what went into each course and where we could buy it - after the best meal and lovely wine we took off to the market and bought what our waiter recommended and now we're home, we have the cook book to hand! Thank you also to Nieves - what an amazing place you have - look forward to seeing you all again next time we're down!

“Excellent tapas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

Was this 'one of the best meals I've ever had', as Tripadvisor asks? No, because the fact that we waited 1.5 hours in line, and did not get to sit comfortably while we ate, spoiled the meal.
Food - of course it was delicious. Atmosphere - excellent. Level of comfort - low.
Would I go back? Yes, if I were guaranteed a table upon arrival. I have tried arriving as late as 2:40pm (they close at 3pm for their lunch seating) only to be turned away!
Remember, since they do not take reservations, you must go in a small party (preferably 2, at most 3) because seats are all bar seats; otherwise you risk waiting a really long time. Only 23 seats & some diners really just sit there for the whole evening! 8 seats outside on Frith Street.

“Excellent food & service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013 via mobile

We got here abt 5pm on a Thursday evening & were one of the first to get seated. 15mins later, whole place was full so do try to get here at opening time if it's possible. Service, top notch. These guys really know their food & gave excellent recommendations. My favs were the special, outsized prawn & the quail. Had a great time here & added bonus was that it was a quick walk to the New London Theatre where we caught Warhorse that night - it's a must watch, the puppetry is out of this world! Would definitely come back!
