Description: Barrafina is an authentic Spanish tapas bar located in London's Soho. It serves a traditional but contemporary, regional a la carte menu and there is a daily blackboard of specials, created by Executive Head Chef, Barragan Mohacho. Barrafina operates a first come first serve queuing system, and does not take reservations for their 23 stools. However, part of the fun of dining there is eating little bites and sipping on something delicious while making the line. The kitchen is open and guests are close to all the action and drama while their food is prepared.

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

Simple yet delicious and fresh! Every visit to London will definitely drop by this place for a meal regardless how pack my schedule is. I love the razor clams, the rump of lamb, the sea bass fillet... everything just tasted so good! A place where I eat till I drop as portions are not as huge. Hence, I can eat up to 5 dishes per visit! Disadvantages is that this place can get a bit cramped + claustrophobic and the meat portions are a bit small on the plate i.e. just a few miserable slices. But food is excellent and have definitely bought a copy of the recipe book to recreate the dishes in Glasgow!

“Excellent but overpriced”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

There is nothing wrong about this place, except the bill at the end of the meal. It's not the price of each tapa, but the minuscule size of portions, requiring you to order so many of them until the bill gets out of control. The wine list contains some decent choices, but also there prices are quite steep. Food is very well executed and tasty. Quite hard to find a table here, you can try your luck and wait but it's extremely popular and you might be disappointed.

“Best Spanish Tapas bar un London”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Been there many times!

To get a table it will be not so easy... I never know if I can confirm to my friends if we are really going there! Why? You can't book in advance! No table seat only at the bar, so you are never really sure that you are going to eat at Barrafina! Unless you wait hours!

Once you get a table you must start we some chorizo, Pan con tomate and of course the Gambas al ajillo ;)

After very easy, just look in front of you and you will find the best fresh fish that you can select and ask theme to cook "a la plancha"
With a good glas of wine and some olive oil bread!

Great Spanish tapas restaurant but mind your budget because tapas is dangerous....

“Fabulous Food & Great Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

The dinner sitting starts at 5pm and as we walked past at 4:45pm on Satrurday evening the queue had started to form outside - by 5:15pm all seats had been taken and the standing areas behind the stool seats had also been taken - my advise is to get there early given most sittings last between 1.5-2hrs. We started the evening with olives, bread and olive oil and two different glasses of sherry (Puerto Fino-crisp and dry & Tio Diego a more nutty medium sweet sherry - there was a good selection of 7 different sherry's). Staff were very attentive and went through a wonderful specials black board) the Mackerel was absolutely fabulous - fresh and had just been grilled with a great crispy skin. We chose a rich Tortilla, cold meats platter, chorizo potatoe and watercress. Wine selection was excellent, although the magnums are poured into carafes so getting 4 glasses vs 6 from a bottle. Many if not all the wines can be chosen by the glass. Biggest disappointment was we had no room for desert. A 12.5% service charge is automatically added to the bill. £90 for two including a £26 bottle of Ribeiro Tempranillo/Cabernet mix. We will be back!!
