Tried the evening tasting menu. Delicious ideas but execution slightly lacking.

Ceviche of scottish salmon with lime, red chilli, red onion, avocado & sweet potato:- good though ceviche could have marinaded longer and the sweet potato, distracting and unnecessary.
Sautéed foie gras w/ grilled quail, pomegranate & orange salad: Foie gras very lightly (too lightly) sautéed. 30 more secs needed to avoid slimy texture. Quail legs poorly butchered - contained splinters of bone. Flavours delicious.
Seared yellow fin tuna with edamame beans & saffron risotto, pak choi, sautéed squid & wakame soya dressing: too much going on, risotto did not belong on the plate.
Scotch fillet steak with shitake purée unremarkable.
Deserts were underwhelming.

All in all, slightly disappointing; though perhaps my fault for having too high expectations?

Service however was very friendly and attentive, and the wine list very good and reasonably priced.

We enjoyed the food here just as much as the new Primrose Hill restaurant where Michael Nadra is located. I ate the sea bass again with crab bisque sauce and such sweet large prawns. An excellent dish and tasted identical. My husband was just as pleased with his monk fish and our guests with her slight;y pink medium cooked lamb. Two of us chose scallops which looked and were very good indeed and I loved my salmon ceviche with lemon and other tasty additions. Service was excellent. But the air con fans blow rather cold air on to you at the back of the restaurant. AVOID sitting too close to the door at the rear. Otherwise a very excellent evening.

Our daughter took us there for a treat and we were impressed by the plethora of choices at a very reasonable price at lunchtime, under GBP20 for two courses. In the evening the same choice is rather more expensive. Two of us made a sort of tasting menu by sharing our scallops and crab starters and rump of lamb and sirloin of beef mains. All delicious and beautifully presented. The other 4 there all expressed delight at their choices and the desserts were great too. We'll return and I would have given it 5* but for one waiter who was much too pushy with the wine. Without knowing who was driving or wanted more he kept tipping the wine randomly into glasses and saying "would you like another bottle?" He even tipped wine from our second bottle of Chenin Blanc into our glasses before any of us had finished the first - bad wine etiquette, mixing the two!

When you come out of a restaurant at £65 per head and you have not enjoyed it you have missed an opportunity as time and money are precious; This is what happened to us at Michael Nadra. The restaurant decor is ok, the food is good but the experience is really stressful. Since you come to the restaurant you are rushed through the meal and the only attention you get is when they want to top you up with wine when is not needed. The temperature of the restaurant was an issue having either the air conditioning full on or the door open with a very unpleasant feeling and the music is way too loud. The food is good as expected at £65 per head including wine. A pity we ended up here instead of in one of the really great ones nearby.
