Description: Critically acclaimed Spanish tapas restaurant El Pirata opened its doors in 1994. Tucked away in the corner of Mayfair next to Hyde Park, El Pirata has become a firm favourite for those wanting an authentic Spanish experience. Relax at the superb mirrored bar with a drink or two whilst enjoying the atmosphere of the Spanish influenced decor. Whether upstairs or downstairs, you can enjoy the Tapas menu where each dish is individually priced, or if you’re not too familiar with Tapas, choose from our two fantastic set menus. At lunchtimes enjoy our special lunch menu which offers great value; two tapas dishes, a bread roll and alioli plus a soft drink or a glass of wine for just £10.25 – great value! Downstairs is ideal for parties and gatherings of up to 60 people. If you prefer a private area for either that important business dinner or a more romantic setting for that more intimate meal, you will find our two private alcoves perfect. When the weather’s at its best, our four outside tables are an instant hit, but you’ll have to be early because they are snapped up fast!

A recent dinner was pretty good, but a little expensive compared to other Tapas bars, perhaps that's the Mayfair factor. Worth a go.

Absolutely great tasting food and a good selection of wines. Lots of very good dishes to choose from and unfortunately the stomach fills up quicker than the eyes do. There's a warm and friendly atmosphere about the place. Lunch is usually busy so best to book in advance rather than chance it and the ground floor is to be preferred. Dinner tends to be busier with the downstairs section filling up too.

Visited on a Saturday with our sons for my wife's birthday. What an enjoyable evening we had. We look for Tapas restaurants wherever we go and were really pleased we found El Pirata. The food and wine were reasonably priced and of a high quality. The menu included kidney and liver dishes, regulars on Spanish menus but less regular on English menus, we tried both and were not disappointed. The other food was also really good, they managed to find a birthday dessert and throw in a happy birthday song as well. A great evening for us when the restaurant was really busy on a Saturday night.

The food is always amazing and the service extremely friendly and polite. The restaurant is always very busy and a bit claustrophobic at times, but the atmosphere is truly cheerful. Quite a contrast with the stiffness of surrounding Mayfair...

We went there for my other half's birthday. We had a table of c.10 people and to make things easier we went for the set menu so to get sampling of everything.

Food arrived promptly and was nice but not mindblowing. Other Spanish tapas places in London can give you a bigger "wow" feeling. However it was a very nice setting to come to as a group or as couple as the setting and service is great
