“Rich and various vietnamese cousine!”
Reviewed April 18, 2013 via mobile

From the reviews we expected the place to be much more modest but we found it nice and with a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and willing to satisfy our curiosites on viernamese food and culture.
We had the Hai Ha special sharing as starters served with peanuts sauce and a light fishy one. As main dishes we had a rich noddles soup with roast duck and a delicious shredded duck with chilli and lemon grass whose meat was richly marinated and flavoursome.
We'll definetely come back to this place to try the rest of this rich and various vietnamese cousine.

“meat in my vegetarian dish!”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

My friends and I have been going to Hai Ha on and off for years.
I went 2 weeks ago after about a years break and will never go back there again.
The service was abrupt and slow despite it being quiet but the worse thing was that AFTER EATING 2/3 OF MY VEGETARIAN SINGAPORE NOODLES I FOUND 3 PIECES OF CHICKEN !
when i spoke to the waitress about it, she initially tried to say it wasn't really chicken, then said it wasn't really in the dish (despite all of us looking at the 3 pieces of chicken on my plate) and then spoke to the cook who apparently said there couldn't be too much chicken in my dish as it was probably chicken left in the wok from the previous dish. As if this made it ok!!!
i have been vegetarian for 30 years and tried to explain to the waitress that it didn't matter if it was 1 piece of meat it wasn't alright!
she just kept saying 'it wasn't much chicken'........

“Love this place”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

Love Hai Ha and should have written a review for it a long time ago. Me and my boyfriend live right near it and love to pop in regularly for a quick bite or leisurely meal. They do a mean salt and pepper fried squid, with chillei and garlic which is gone in a flash. I'ma big fan of their enormous Pho noodle soup dishes which are filling and refreshing. The service is excellent. Only once have they got our order wrong (the place was heaving that evening) and they corrected it quickly. You can bring your own or order drinks in, but i usually got for the never ending pot of green tea. Recommend it for everyone - I've eaten here alone, with boyfriend, with friends and family.

“Recommended”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

We enjoyed our visit to this restaurant after attending the nearby Pigs Ear beer festival. We had pork spring rolls as a starter, our mains were chicken with lemongrass and chilli, and monkfish. All were really tasty although portions were on the modest side.

“Enjoyable Vietnamese Dinner Before a Show”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

Didnt book, was looking for a Vietnamese meal before a show at the Hackney Empire. Excellent choice, a fantastic meal with no frills. Great welcome and helpful staff - and the food was better than expected. Super value for money - recommended
