Description: The Paradiso story began with Olivelli's Hotel and restaurant which was founded in 1934 by Sicilian-born Rita and Enrico Olivelli. Situated in Store Street - heart of Bohemian London, it quickly became a culinary haven for students from nearby RADA and established actors and actresses at London theatres.Olivelli's name spread rapidly thanks to its warm, friendly atmosphere and authentic, value-for-money food. Such was its reputation that the Marx Brothers insisted on eating at the restaurant on their one and only visit to England. Among other famous diners were the legendary 'naughty girl' Mae West, Danny Kaye, Mickey Rooney, Bob Hope and Liberace. When Sicilian-born Giovanni and Salvatore Salamone bought Olivelli in 1993 - the first of their popular chain of Olivelli Paradiso outlets (now known simply as Olivelli) across London - they took care to preserve the restaurant's unique characteristics, recreating its welcoming atmosphere and using only the finest, freshest ingredients sourced from Italy and nearby markets.Hardly surprising then that contemporary celebrities such as Mel Brookes, Eric Clapton, Kevin Spacey, Graham Norton, Ben Elton, and Jack Dee continue to dine at Olivelli restaurants.

Wonderful - authentic Italian food in central London. Excellent food and service. We had the mixed appetisers, the pasta with Lobster and the swordfish with mixed grilled vegetables just great. But also the pizza and meat dishes looked amazing. We will come back for sure!!!

We took up the offer of two courses for £10.95. The starters were fried calimari (good) and pan-fried mussels (awful - tiny and totally overcooked so it was like eating rubber). The main courses were penne alla norma (tiny portion and insipid) and those little twisty pasta with broccoli and Italian sausage (obviously blasted in a microwave, the pasta was rock hard, the broccoli totally overcooked, the cream sauce boiling hot and the sausage appeared to have been thrown in as an afterthought - inedible rubbish).

The pasta dishes were taken away. I had a pizza in place of my pasta, my wife declined to torment her taste buds further. The pizza was OK although it was a stranger to any kind of herb.

Well, if you are someone like me who appreciate quality you'll love this Italian restaurant in the heart of London. Small, cozy, the food is delicious and if you have been to Sicily before you may have some flashbacks. The staff is friendly and professional, and the most important, they make you feel special. I love to bring friends to eat there when they come to visit me in London.

Very poor service and food was not great. Mucked up our order. Simple anti pasta was small, tasteless and expensive. Veal dry and no flavour. Very small compact little restaurant in a great location. The Prof hated it, will not go there again or recommend it to anyone. The bill was expensive too.

Only by accident my friend and I bumped into this great restaurant. We've had a great lunch (the pasta's are really nice) and as a desert we've had the best coffee ever!!
Definitely worth of your money!! And the staff was really friendly as well.
