“Excellent pub”
Reviewed January 8, 2012

This place feels like it's exactly as a pub should be: warm atmosphere, traditional decor-everything made of wood, british beer, great food in big servings. You don't really feel like you're in a city, more like somewhere in the english countryside. Definitely worth a visit.

“A great pub that looks like a pub should look”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

This pub is very traditional in the way it looks with wood beams, cozy fireplace, and great food. We had fish and chips that were delicious, wine from a nice wine selection, and could have had other less traditional pub food had we chosen to do so. In London it is sometimes hard to find a pub that feels as if one had just wandered into a country pub in Devon rather than a trendy pub catering to the 20s working crowd. This pub attracts everyone from the area working people to those headed to a concert or shopping in Knightsbridge. Worth a visit.

“cracking little pub with decent real food”
Reviewed October 10, 2010

firstly after reading some other reviews i feel that a lot of them are talking about a different pub, there is
more than 1 windsor castles in london people!
this pub although at a guess, Georgian ( about 200 years old) has been done up in a sort of modern/shabby chic style
there is pride /guinness and all sorts of fancy other drinks on offer, which all seem to be served in the correct glass at the right temperature
it seemed slightly expensive but then this is central london

the food menu looked fairly low end Gastro pub stuff but after chatting to the very amiable landlord he assured me everything is freshly cooked to order,no frozen lasagne here.
I had burger and chips (chav that i am) and was surprised to be asked how i would like my burger done,i went for medium rare and it came just like that. chips were proper

the pub itself is located 5 minutes walk from baker street and is on the main A41 route into london,i probably passed it 100s of times. the main clientèle seem to be from the london business school next door, and this is no bad thing as even on the tuesday and saturday that i popped in there was a fairy cosmopolitan feel to the place

not quite in Marylebone really
no sky sports
tables at the front are on a very busy road

but that is being picky really, worth a visit IMHO

“Cosy pub, wonderful food, great ambience”
Reviewed June 8, 2009

This is a lovely, if very small, pub. We popped in for a bite to eat before going to a wedding in a nearby hotel - The Royal Adelaide which incidentally is a lovely hotel. The food was absolutely delicious, served very quickly, reasonably priced and well presented.

We had tiger prawns in Filo pastry, ciabatta with red pepper houmus and guacamole, and garlic bread with mozzarella, all served with salad - the menu was very impressive and sophisticated for pub food which can sometimes be a let down but it was first class on this occasion and one of the nicest pub lunches i've had (and i've had a few!)
