Description: Yauatcha Soho is a Chinese dim sum teahouse in the heart of Soho and part of the Hakkasan group, offering an all day grazing experience. Launched in 2004, Yauatcha gained immediate critical acclaim and received its Michelin star within a year of opening which it continues to maintain. Yauatcha provides a unique dining experience, offering authentic dim sum with a contemporary influence. The renowned menu includes a wide selection of dim sum and a list of over 60 types of tea. The design by Christian Liagre offers full view of the kitchen allowing passers by to witness the preparation of the expertly made dishes. Spread over two floors, the 160 cover restaurant offers a light environment on the ground floor, emulating the vibrant 'chatter shop' atmosphere of a traditional dim sum eatery in Hong Kong. Its subterranean level offers deep booths and low lighting, providing a captivating dining space for evening.

“Gourmet Chinese - Amazing dumplings”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Yauatcha has an amazing variety of dumplings, steamed, pan fried, fried, etc. Our table sampled about 15 different varieties and all were pronounced delicious. The food is freshly prepared and steaming hot when served. Some dumplings come with accompanying sauces and dips. There are many different vegetarian options. We really loved the food.
The dining room (choose the one downstairs) has great decor with a starry ceiling and a fish tank bar.
On the down side, the table service was substandard. We sat at our table for a long time without being offered water or drinks. When the food arrived there were several mix-ups with the order. We were not sure who our waiter was as several waitpersons served us at different times in a very uncoordinated manner.

“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We booked and asked for the table for the whole afternoon as we were 6 school friends meeting after 40 years. We left the ordering to our one friend Alice who ordered a selection of dim sums and a duck salad. My favourite was the prawn with sesame seeds and the little venison pie but enjoyed everything presented to us. The waiter was attentive and used initiative to split the final bill into 6. We didn't take too much notice of the lighting or the interior of the restaurant since we were too busy chatting.

“Very good dim sum, at high-style prices”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

The dim sum at Yauatcha are quite good, but you are not only paying for the quality of the food, you are paying for the central London location, the glamor of the interior design and lighting, and the high rent district ambience. If you want dim sum without these frills, go elsewhere.
