the very proximate Entree restaurant on Battersea Rise suffers from this gross invasion of privacy, ie the cameras. ghastly. fortunately Scoffers is an old school, quite charming, independent and the local area is enhanced from having an option such as Scoffers.
they must have taken note of various other reviewers complaining about the service. on the recent night that we went the service was impeccable, as was the price. we went unknowingly on a night when all food was 1/2 price, fantastic! oddly they are closed for 2 x evenings during the week, so coupled with the need to get the punters in by the 1/2 pricing, i get the feeling that the ownership is not chasing the £££££££££'s. Bravo!
the wine list is on the basic to mid level selection, though for Scoffers market position and customer type, it is probably is about right. My mind almost went Sauvignon Blank for a moment trying to remember what we shared, but i think it was a NZ SB.
the menu is solid middle class comfort food which in our instances was easy to choose from and then cooked to perfection.
all together a successful evening. the simple question is, would you want to go back, given the endless other options in the locality. the easy response is yes.
if you dislike the public school types, then stay away from here.
