Visited for lunch as a group of eight women. The set menu was good value with four choices for each course and flexibility for those with dietary requirements. The food was all perfectly cooked and very tasty; recommended are the smoked duck starter and the hake and beef mains.
The restaurant was very quiet at first and lacked atmosphere, then at around half 2 it filled with afternoon tea guests and became very busy. It was at that point that our table got completely ignored. We had to refill our own wine and go after our waitress to get the bill and pay. When it came to paying there was no portable chip and pin so we all had to queue up at the entrance to pay. We mentioned the poor service to three separate members of staff and none of them could have cared less, they simply ignored us. We all expected better from that class of hotel/ restaurant.
