Went for the pub quiz on a Tuesday night which was indeed good fun. We had several rounds of drinks, one bowl of chips and a scotch egg. The problems came when the bill arrived- and aside from being rather expensive (at £7.60 for a large glass of house rose)- when we noticed that some of the prices for the drinks didn't match the menu. We queried this with the waitress who returned, and told us that the menus were wrong, and the bill was right, so we'd have to pay up. We requested to speak to the manager, but the waitress returned a few minutes later and said that they had changed the prices on the bill, to match those of the menu. When I asked where the manager was, the waitress told us (somewhat apologetically) that he was too busy to talk to us. We then paid the bill (minus the optional 12.5% service charge they had automatically added for the trouble of providing us with a bowl of chips and the scotch egg). When we were leaving, we were then stopped by the waitress who accused us of not paying the bill in full. When we pointed out to her that we had in fact paid the bill, but declined the optional service charge, she looked puzzled and returned to consult with the "too busy" manager.
All in all, a rather woeful display of "customer service". Despite the good quiz, we won't return.
