Went for the pub quiz on a Tuesday night which was indeed good fun. We had several rounds of drinks, one bowl of chips and a scotch egg. The problems came when the bill arrived- and aside from being rather expensive (at £7.60 for a large glass of house rose)- when we noticed that some of the prices for the drinks didn't match the menu. We queried this with the waitress who returned, and told us that the menus were wrong, and the bill was right, so we'd have to pay up. We requested to speak to the manager, but the waitress returned a few minutes later and said that they had changed the prices on the bill, to match those of the menu. When I asked where the manager was, the waitress told us (somewhat apologetically) that he was too busy to talk to us. We then paid the bill (minus the optional 12.5% service charge they had automatically added for the trouble of providing us with a bowl of chips and the scotch egg). When we were leaving, we were then stopped by the waitress who accused us of not paying the bill in full. When we pointed out to her that we had in fact paid the bill, but declined the optional service charge, she looked puzzled and returned to consult with the "too busy" manager.

All in all, a rather woeful display of "customer service". Despite the good quiz, we won't return.

Had my 40th birthday party here and it was a blast. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere downstairs. It’s states that 70 people can fit in here but recommend not to have more than 50, it would have been really cramped in that case but for 40 people it was perfect. Sorting out my birthday was easy to book and will come back here to try the food next time instead of just the drinks  Well recommended.

We booked a table via "Top Table" - 50% off all food on the menu including all the specials. The Well is friendly and has a nice friendly atmosphere. The food was very good. As all the food was half price we inevitably ended up eating 3 courses. I ate the Isle of Man scallops and the Herdwick mutton shank all of which were very tasty. There is a limited wine menu - we opted for a mid range Argentinian Red for £25. A little pricey but it was superb. The only disappointment was my dessert - the rhubarb and custard cheesecake. With service and wine the bill came to a very reasonable £66 for two. Would I pay twice the price for the food? Maybe....This is certainly somewhere to go if you see an offer on Top Table and if you are not looking for a budget meal then go here you will not be disappointed. They hold a quiz night here on a Tuesday so unless you want to join in choose another night to visit.

We went to this bar as part of a group of 7 for the pub quiz that is held every Tuesday night and all elected to have some food while we were there. The service was very good with table service for drinks and food. All dishes that were ordered were delicious, from the burgers, to the cod and pasta.
Some of our group also elected to get deserts which looked and smelt wonderful and seemingly lived up to expectations.

Turned up with no booking, but welcomed by friendly staff. Good wine list and very happy with the food - game pie on a cold night - delicious.
