I have been to this restaurant a few times and i do like the food and the atmosphere, although sometimes you may find alot of crowds are there for the see and bee seen purpose rather then the excellent food.
Overall a great hangout, lovely food, great service.

“Great food poor service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

Have been looking forward to my visit to Zuma for the last 3 months. I am a fan of Roka so the expectations were high.
The food didn't disapoint but the service did.
The sushi is delicious, fresh and a bit different.
We also had the duck and the lamb chops. The lamb was our favourite, full of flavour and great with the asparragus.
But the service was a let down. Despite having a lot of staff we felt ignore, had to ask twice before someone took our order and the same to pay after our meal.
There seem to be a lot of tables with regular customers and those were the priority for the staff.
At the same time, we felt rush to finish our meal, the plates were disapearing from our table almost before we had finish them.
Everyone was very aloof, made us felt they were making us a favour by having us eating there.
For a place that includes 15% service charge on the bill, the service should be a lot better behave.
I do not think i will go back, would recomend everyone to go to roka instead, same food, better service and slightly cheaper.

“Vibrating atmosphere and a delicate tasting menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

With some very good memories from two visits at Zumas sister Roka we had high expectations when we got a table in April. You feel the vibrating atmosphere when you walk through Zuma - with a good variety of guests; families, couples, business and friends in a perfect mix.

We like to be surprised and have a variety, hence we ordered the Zuma signature tasting menu. Delicately served like art works. Did not get as much raw fish/sashimi as we hoped for, but what they served were fresh and nicely cut. Also got an extremely good spicy piece of steak - yum! And not to forget the black cod! The wine waiter knew her business and gave us a couple of crispy and dry whites that worked perfectly with the food.

Zuma has got something special and delivered according to our expectations, but we still find Roka a litle more exciting.

“Skip the sushi...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013

Very nice location (close to hyde park), cool atmosphere and amazing japanese food!
The sushis and sashimis are good but what is really special in this restaurant are the signature dishes. Try the Miso marinated Black Cod...one of the best fishes I have ever had. Tempura is also very good......and make sure you don't skip the desserts!

“The Codfather”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013

Every time I go to Zuma, whatever starters or appetizers we have, and usually we select a number to share I always, always have their Black Cod as a main meal. Just Wow! this is the most delicious, best cooked fish, ever! it comes on a plate of course but it is in a big green leaf. The fish breaks into large flakes, moist, and not the least bit crumbly as cod often is. Instead the flavours explode in the mouth. I had this on my first visit and have been loads of times since but I have never tried another main course. Why would I want to miss this delight but having something else. If one really enjoys a particular dish then why change for change sake? As long as it remains on the menu I will always have it. By the way all the staff are super and the green tea good
