“good sushi quality but all in all overrated”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

the restaurant offers a good quality of sushi and a nice cocktail/wine menu. i have read a lot about the place and expected it to be one of the best sushi restaurants in town. even though the food was great we didnt enjoy the evening as much as we had hoped. apparently you have to reserve 2 weeks in advance although that didnt seem to be a problem after letting the concierge reserve, so no different to any of the other "exclusive" places but not very nice when guests call and are almost laughed at when trying to make a reservation. the service at the place itself wasnt too nice either. i would not call it bad but definitely not what you would expect from the restaurant. to us it seemed that they have a bit of an arrogant attitude towards clients and if you are not someone who appears in the magazines once a week, you get kicked out of the place as soon as your time for the table is up. there are nicer ways of treating clients.
the food however, as i said, was good, the fish very fresh and as well the cocktails delicious.
instead spending my evening in zuma i would rather go to one of the other sushi restaurants with the same quality but much nicer service.

I was recently taken to Zuma for lunch by some friends during a visit to London. a very pleasant experience. Great food, but not only sushi/sashimi for those who prefer something else.

“Excellent on all accounts”

Zuma is everything a successful hip restaurant should be... The food is fresh, try the sashimi! The crowd is good, and service faultless... Only downside is that you can't get a table!!

“Outstanding”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Took the wife for her birthday treat to London for food. This place was recomended and didn't let us down in any department, so I'd recomend their strand of "Japanese" cuisine to you.

We got to Zuma early and had a couple of drinks at the bar to build up an apetite. The staff were having their pre-work meeting/huddle, which was great to watch. Then they got to work prepping and organising the fine touches before dinner started at 6pm. Nice theatre!

We ate pretty much four courses of continuously served food over two and a half hours (yes you can get a table time extension), all of which was outstanding. I'd rant about this dish or rave about that dish, but taking the advice of a member of staff will help no end, or if you have an open mind then just get stuck in and order similar things from the menu in batches.

If you look closely there are some very reasonably priced items on the menu, although all the bestest things are knocking £25+.

Finally the atmosphere is great, with a good audio bubble around you while maintaining privacy.

Get involved.

“very good japanese cuisine”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

A very good, lively, buzzing place for drinks n dinner. Would recommend this to anyone for a group or couple night out. Great atmosphere though weekends very very busy and bar gets crowded as you can imagine. Best to get a table for dinner, so at least you have a seat. Food is good and service to match !!
