“Good beer, good food”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

Great range of well priced ales to choose from. Barman very knowledgeable and helped with choice. Thanks! Food also very good and reasonably priced for very good quality fare. Nice ambience/good location. Would recommend a trip if you are in the Canary Wharf / surrounding area

“Valentine's tasting menu”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

We spent Valentine's evening at the Gun in Canary Wharf enjoying their 5 course tasting menu. Great selection of wines and beautiful looking courses including pork belly & oyster, lobster ravioli but my favourite was the amazing artichoke salad. Lovely meal in a lovely setting with great service thrown in.

“Xmas Party made easy”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

A Christmas party of 15 rowdy festive friends.
There was not a single hitch and everything was smooth and fun. We could not have asked for more! The personal service we received in the River Room was excellent - our server was very professional and patient with our never ending requests for drinks etc. The Christmas menu was spot on and the wine list extensive and reasonable. The food was excellent and the Christmassy touches in the room just helped make the whole atmosphere just perfect.
Downstairs for drinks after we relinquished the River Room, the bar staff were very friendly and very helpful. It's sad how it all seems so long ago now.

“Outstanding for a celebration.”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

It was a daughter’s birthday. Where to go? We were looking for somewhere special where none of us had been before, with really good food, good wine and kind of of spectacular without bling. Something truly memorable.
We found the Gun and it was all of that. We did a recce a few days before and the management could not have been more helpful. The upstairs room is much the best: it has just one large table - it can seat 16. We were just six so we accepted a minimum charge of £500 when we booked.
The room is absolutely knockout- 18th century with candelabras and lovely view over the Thames and our very own waiter.
We had lovely food, and it was beautifully presented. Excellent service. A really romantic setting: Admiral Nelson lived just up the road and it is recorded that he would meet Lady Hamilton in this very room. Can’t blame them for choosing it. Apparently sometimes on St Valentine’s day a couple will still take the room just for themselves ….

We plan to go back for Christmas and other family occasions - and what a place to take a visitor to London!

Getting there is not hard: easy parking or Canary Wharf station.

Once in a lifetime at least ….

“The Gun - great!”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

We booked the River Room at The Gun for a 90th birthday lunch. The room was beautiful with an elegant atmosphere and a superb view over the river and the Millennium Dome. Only downside was that the staircase to teh first floor was a little trick for our older guests!

Food was excellent, and the service was most attentive and of a high quality throughout.

We will definitely be coming again - maybe for the 100th birthday celebration, if not before!
