Eating here before a matinee performance was a good call. They have the timings right with good choice and service.
Get there a bit earlier if you can if the weather is nice and enjoy a drink out on the terrace
Staff were friendly and helpful and definitely great a place for ease and convenience.
The food was good, good choice and swift service

Pre booked and pre ordered our lunch with wines. Everything was efficient, they confirmed our choices on arrival and it all went smoothly. We opted to have our coffee in the intermission as you keep your table throughout, so can leave coats and shopping bags. Alas, it was a struggle to get from our seats in the Stalls to the restaurant upstairs fighting our way through the crowds heading to the bar. Won't choose returning to the table in the intermission again. The food was delicious and well presented. Service was friendly and efficient. Very busy restaurant.

Given the vile weather outside, we were glad we booked into the ROH's formal restaurant, on the top level less than 100 yards from our seats. This is NOT a deal, at £40 - £50 for three nice-but-average courses before you start on the drinks. But it's incredibly convenient.

We were less than 5 minutes from our seats. Even with us all running late due to train delays (this was the day of the wind storms before Christmas), we managed to get starters and mains in before the production and enjoyed dessert and coffee at the interval. No fighting across a rainy, wind-swept Covent Garden from a pre-theatre restaurant, no scrambling for space in the crowds at the interval. All terribly civilised, with staff who cater to your every need (a special chutney whipped up at short notice for my tomato-allergic husband) and run things like clockwork to get you to your seat at the last minute. This is the operatic equivalent of the premium airport lounge.

I wish the food were more more memorable. Beetroot cured salmon with creme fraiche and pickle. Fine. Bream fillet with truffle butter. Very good. Cheese platter. Perfectly presentable. But nothing remarkable and, given that we were there to see Carmen, nothing Spanish. The bars were serving tapas, but the restaurant had nothing topical. Seemed like a missed opportunity.

Still, on such a beastly night, it was worth the money to stay dry and be pampered.

Super lunch..it's worth a visit even when not attending an opera or ballet.

we booked a table at the Amphitheatre restaurant as we had tickets for the ballet. We had the table for the whole evening, eating starter and main before the performance, then pudding during the first interval and coffee during second. Staff were friendly and efficient, the simple, themed menu was delicious, and it was very civilized to have a table to return to during the evening. Wonderful crisp table linen made us feel very special, and for London, to spend about £45 a head for a super dinner and wine is extremely good value. We booked some weeks in advance and were glad to have done so as the restaurant was full.
