Do see my other reviews on the backstage tour and the show.
Tickets for the opera are required to book dinner here and booking is required. Ahead of the date we were invited to select our menu, so all the food was ready on our arrival. As dinner is served ahead of the show, service is "swift". I popped to the loo and found the starters served on my return. We opted to have desert during the first interval and this was waiting at our places when we got there - so select a pudding that is best served at room temperature. We then return during the second the interval for coffee. Very expensive and I wouldn't bother again, but altogether an excellent evening as a one off special occassion.

After ordering online tickets for Natalia Makarova's "La Bayadère"- we were directed to the Restaurant's website. It was easy to make a reservation. We were also able to pre-order, which saved time for more enjoyment of the dinner. They have vegetarian, and low fat items in abundance- which helped our waistlines. The food and wine were good. You don't expect a three star Michelin experience at a venue such as this. We were able to return to our table for dessert and coffee, during both intermissions.

This was my second visit to the ROH to see La Donna del Lago, and this time I thought we'll treat ourselves to a pre-dinner meal. The setting was lovely and quite befitting of a restaurant within the ROH. However, on entering the doors we had to wait several minutes for someone to greet us, and once we were shown to our table, another wait before someone decided to take our drinks order. We had pre-ordered our meal online, which is a great idea. It was just a shame that the level of service whilst courteous was nothing more than that. The food was also just okay - given the price tag and the menu,I did expect better quality, but it was just so, so.

We ate here during a recent performance of the Royal Ballets Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (which is fantastic!). We were a party of 9 so had pre-booked our menu choices and wine selection. The table was ours from 5.30, so we had our starters and mains before the performance started, deserts in the first interval and coffees in the second. Everything was ready for us when we arrived - white wine on table in ice buckets. Excellent service and the food was all delicious. Expect to pay about £50 for 3 courses including house wine. We had both the red and white house wine, both excellent. This is the cheaper of the 2 main restaurants in the Royal Opera House, the other being the Balconies Restaurant which is gorgeous, but more difficult to seat a large party in that space. The whole evening was absolutely fabulous.

My partner and I had our meals for two consecutive evenings since we were seeing a ballet on Friday and an opera on Saturuday. The choice of food was more than sufficient. We had pre-odered over the Internet and found exactly what we had asked for. The house wine is excellent; the food superb. The cheese plate is probably the weakest element on the menu since there is not much of a choice and the selection is relatively ordinary: it doesn't match the sophistication of the main dishes. The side dishes were extraordinary one night and so-so the second evening since the potatoes got to us lukewarm. The choice of dessert is to dream of. All in all we enjoy having our meals at this restaurant whenever we are going to the ROH. It's pricey but the service is impeccable: all the waiters are extremely friendly and willing to accommodate any request.
