Description: Artigiano shows just how glossy Italian high style can be, with its stylish chrome interior, high-concept lighting, rear glass ceiling, and glass front that opens like pairs of welcoming arms when the weather allows. Don't miss the 'Oscar' donated by a satisfied diner. Lunches are relaxed and calm, while dinners are buzzier. The confident, modern Italian menu's most popular dish is the spaghetti with fresh crab and rocket with a spicy crab sauce. Old favourites have got a delicious new twist, like carpaccio with homemade pesto dressing or calf's liver with wild mushrooms and fava beans. High style, great food. Please be aware, bookings for Saturday nights must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance.

“Bad Table Manners”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

As soon as we sat down at Artigiano we were told to put our buggy downstairs as if leaving our baby downstairs sleeping whilst eating our meal upstairs was a viable option. The idea of flexibility was that we could put the buggy by our table but that this would be inconvenient as we would have to move it if people sat at the table behind.
In the end we put the damn baby buggy in the car.
The thing is the place had only just opened and we would be long gone before any of this would become a problem.
The food was good, fresh, simple Italian food with a healthy balance of flavour but I can honestly say the unwelcoming attitude made feel like I had utterly wasted my money.
It was clear looking around at the other customers, as the tight unsmiling face of the person seating us continued in a curt and unfriendlly manner, that there is no way he would have spoken to any of them like that. So I have been wondering what was different about us? Well we had a baby and also happened to be dressed casually.
Another thing is clear. I will think twice before going back even if my Mum or any of my other local friends invite me.
I would hope that something could change in this restaurant but unfortunately the person who dealt wih us was the manager. His customer service was offensive.

What do you say to this apart from the fact that we are an Italian restaurant and we love babies and young kids..Do not know where he wanted to put his push chair but there musthave been an hoest simple reason why he was asked to move it.If the restaurant as going to be busy later the manager would have done his best to accomodate the wishes of the parents. In other words move them to the lower section of the restaurant. But it seems they wanted to stay in the upper section.,,heh you can only do your best.

using a discount voucher and found the restaurant 2/3rds full. Upmarket Italian normally with prices to match but excellent value at £100 inc. service for four people choosing expensive dishes. No unpleasantness over the discount from professional waiters and perfectly cooked fish, T bone and pasta.

“setting is fine, food could be better”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

The Belsize Village setting is charming, the decor is crisp and clean, the service is professional. The disappointment, sadly, is the food. There's nothing actually wrong with it (mostly - but see below). It is just not up to the standard one would hope for in this atmosphere and at this price. The main course was ok-ish (unfortunate that the sauce formed a skin as it cooled). The dessert - apple sauce, sorbet and white chocolate - was actively unpleasant and I left it almost untouched. Would have been nice if one of the staff had asked why...

“On the way down”
Reviewed May 19, 2012

Been 4 times, first and second time fantastic and we only had set meals each time. Reasonably priced altho glass of wine not cheap. Then we took friends for an anniversary treat. It was utterly disappointing. We gave it a last chance this week, 3 of us. The prix fixe was drab with no choice so we had to go for a la carte. Should have been warned by the bread starters, no olives, olive bread had a hair in it, ugh, and the tarama topped bread was tasteless and had dried out inedible veg in it. Our salads had little or no dressing and were so stale I was picking out the bad bits. My pal just left hers. The tomatoes were soggy and had to be spat out. The main dish was very nice but standard and exactly like you would expect it anywhere. We sent the salads back. Not a word. No apology, nothing. We felt like we were making it up. At least we didn't get charged but you dont want to feel unwanted on your anniversary celebratory dinner. We had desert and coffee elsewhere. We shant risk it again. Its gone right down.
