We were back in town for a long weekend and although we were staying way out in Chelsea, we just had to hop on the tube to come here again. Since our last visit in October, we noticed some changes to the menu so now we have even more to try out! This is a good priced, good value place to eat and the meal portions we find are just right. The flavours are fantastic and we enjoyed every last thing we had to eat. It is clean, modern and friendly and like I say, well priced., The toilets are clean and the general feel if the place is one of relaxation as you are not hurried. The view across St Katherine's Dock is nice so try and grab yourself a window seat. It is 5-8 mins walk from Tower Hill tube and about the same from Tower Gateway DLR. Numerous buses pass close by so using public transport isn't a chore. We've been here three times now and have yet to have a bad or even indifferent experience and every visit we have something different to eat, although we do tend to stick to our favourite wine! If you have half as good a time as us, you will indeed enjoy your visit to the curry house.

The location of Mala is the lovely St.Katherines dock a slight detour of the tourist trail with a great deal to commend it. There is a wide selection of food offerings in this area daytime and evenings.
MALA is grubby, the expensive to run kitchen fans are I suspect mostly off so they was a sort of spicy fog which permeated our clothes coming out from the kitchen door.
We ate as a family of four and received salty overcooked slop in a variety of forms as our main courses. Even the most inexperienced and undiscerning diner could be fooled by the Mala presentations. Our starters, poppadoms were fine.
The attitude of the staff was reluctant, untrained and a total lack of standards.
The turning over of the adjacent tablecloths to reuse the underside, whilst batting the previous diners food fragments in all directions was hard to watch.

Over priced for a start. After being seated we was rushed in ordering our meals without even being asked for drinks. I had to ask 3 times to order drinks. Ordered poppadoms which never came ! food portions were very small but very tasty. Waiters were clueless and clumbsy. Was then billed for the poppadoms and a service charge ! will not be going back.

After struggling to find a highly rated, traditional, Indian that served delicious food a friend recommended Mala. A great recommendation, the location is beautiful and the food, service and overall experience did not disappoint.

The menu has lots of choice and we sampled several of the dishes, including some of the many fish options available as starters or mains. None of the courses disappointed and the portion size was generous.

Will definitely be going back now that we've found this gem.
