“Good middle of the road french”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013

Nice airy room, well spaced tables, unexciting but good cooking - smallish portion of scallops though very tasty, delicious tender minted lamb and wonderful chocolate dome with passion-fruit ice cream, though rhubarb & apple was more apple than rhubarb. Good service. About £70 each incl wine, cocktail, 3 courses, no coffee

“good restaurant, imaginative food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

Friend and I went to this restaurant on Thursday night. It has a friendly buzz and a warm welcome. We were shown to a table by the window. Bizarrely the table seemed rather low, but maybe that was me (I couldn't cross my legs - not enough room!). Service was friendly and professional. I had sea bass for the main course which was beautifully cooked and delicious. The dessert sounded better than it tasted, (banana, chocolate and peanuts) wasn't as chocolatey as I'd hoped for, but was nicely presented. 2 courses with bottle of water and 2 g &Ts came to about £40. For the quality of food and service, this was fine. I'd eat here again and would recommend this restaurant to others. It's handy for the theatre too.

“Great place before the theatre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

We came here for the pre-theatre menu which was great value and we splashed on something from their lovely wine selection. Great service, not crammed in beside other diners and would definitely would come again for a meal even without seeing the play over the road.

“Mothers Day Sunday Lunch With Kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

This came recommended as a good Sunday lunch venue. We went on Mothers Day with our children aged 2 and 8. The food was very good but the roast potatoes were not hot enough for our liking. There was a children's menu on the day but it was not the same as the one advertised on the website. They accommodated my children's request for chips though which was nice and also made specials for my daughter who has severe food allergies. The venue is very smart and not the kind of restaurant you would normally take children to but nevertheless they were very welcoming and accommodating of us. The homemade bread selection before the meal was fab and our roasts were very tasty. The chocolate pudding was to die for! Would recommend : )

“Great food, lovely venue,lovely atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

Whether you are going to the Almeida theatre or not, this is a smart venue to eat at; very stylish and civilised and really nice food. Service usually very good. It's just off Islington High Street so nice if you are out shopping, or, equally meeting with friends or work colleagues and want somewhere a little smarter. Really recommend it.
