Description: Moti Mahal is the chic London outpost of the celebrated Delhi restaurant which opened in 1959. 'An unexpected delight' (Hardens Guide), Inspired by the culinary roots of India, particularly along the famed Grand Trunk Road, Chef Anirudh Arora brings you time-honoured dishes and recipes. By accentuating new tastes and flavours from India's richly woven history, the new menu at Moti Mahal is a feast for the senses. A perfect setting, with curved glass-fronted kitchen and gleaming copper bar, and attentive service will transform your meal in a memorable experience, and Moti Mahal is also 'perfect before a show' (Zagat).

Had the Guinea fowl tandoori which was tender and succulent. The seabass curry was somewhat less successful and I would have preferred a spicier more piquant flavour. The name could also be fluffier. The crispy okra was more interesting than flavourful. Service was good.
Location is fantastic and ideal for having a bye before or after a theatre show. I would probably try their tasting menus in future which I think are better value than ordering from the a la carte menu.

We came upon this restaurant purely by chance. Had booked to see War Horse in the New London theatre & this restaurant is right across the road. It was raining so we decided to chance it by going in for a quick meal.....and it is a clean pleasant restaurant with very attentive & knowledgeable staff. We had the 2 course set menu for £19.00 each which included a cocktail.
Prior to our starters a the waiter brought out a wooden platter with an excellent selection of fresh salad items along with special mixture of Indian masala's in mini pestle & mortar..a knife so you cut your own Onion...cucumber...tomato ...radish.. which kept us occupied till our starters arrived. The starters were excellent ..presentation was super...the main course was equally delicious and superbly presented with enough quantity for the two of us to share...in fact we could not finish it. The 2 non veg items we had were accompanied by vegetable of the day ...raita and 2 fresh & light naans....we were extremely happy with the service...quality & quantity of the food. Just wish it was our local and not so far for us to revisit .Well done Moti Mahal staff keep it up ...you have revived our faith in BRITISH Indian Curry !!! we used to visit the original Moti Mahal in Delhi in the 1950's !!!!

The set menu for two people offers a satisfying and tasty indian meal. The service was discrete and efficient. We had absolutely no issues with hidden charges.

This is obviously a popular restaurant judging by past reviews and it was very busy the night we visited. However I think for us it's a try only once restaurant.
The food was very good, the tastes and flavours were spot on and great presentation with generous portion size.
The service and atmosphere were not nearly as good as the food.
We were seated near the service area so we cinstantly had waiters pushing past and the staff talking around us. The response when we asked a question was abrupt and uncaring.
The manager on the evening we visited seemed very stressed and his facial expressions and rolling of the eyes was very visible and obvious.
There is too much good competition in London to go here again.

Hi,

thanks for your feedback. We are currently reviewing service and layout at the moment so it's good to be able to have your thoughts.

Apologies that the service was not up to the standard that you would expect from us, I've passed this across to our Restaurant Manager.

Many thanks

Lyndsay

A lovely place to try out unusual Indian food. Lovely inside. Plush. Staff very nice. You can see the chefs cooking from your seat which is fun. Positions are on the small side if you are a man. Very limited vegetarian food. And limited side dishes. Bread is yummy. You get given a strange board with whole raw vegetables, with a dry curry spice for you to attack while waiting for your food. We didn't need it. Or touch it. Watch out as you get charged for this! I couldn't see why people need this. Drinks are steep. I asked for tap water for our meal and we got a glass of water not chilled, no ice and it wasn't topped up! Watch out for hidden prices. Nice place for business get togethers.
