Description: Moti Mahal is the chic London outpost of the celebrated Delhi restaurant which opened in 1959. 'An unexpected delight' (Hardens Guide), Inspired by the culinary roots of India, particularly along the famed Grand Trunk Road, Chef Anirudh Arora brings you time-honoured dishes and recipes. By accentuating new tastes and flavours from India's richly woven history, the new menu at Moti Mahal is a feast for the senses. A perfect setting, with curved glass-fronted kitchen and gleaming copper bar, and attentive service will transform your meal in a memorable experience, and Moti Mahal is also 'perfect before a show' (Zagat).

We read about the restaurant and the celebrity chef so we decided to go there for dinner. We made reservations for 2 and walked to restaurant all the way from Bond street station. Its located in the heart of Covent Garden area which is a very happening place. We got our table immediately and server politely explained all the dishes. We ordered 3-combination chicken kabob..which was very yummy...haven;t had such Kababs in US!

Chicken shashlick masala was perfect but tandoori chicken had very little meat and a lot of bones.Service was swift and kind. Would try some other place next time.

We went back to Moti Mahal again this year , the menu changed for the worse as not too many choices for an indian meal . The food was very avg and extremely pricey as we paid about 225 pounds for a meal for 4 people that included a bottle of wine .. They still charge a cover charge of 2 pounds per person on the bill which I find very ridiculous for such an expensive restaurant .. They are many choices in london for a good indian meal , don't think will come back ...

Had a great meal here, loved the food (& cocktails) - delicious and tasty modern Indian food beautifully served and in a good location in central London.
Make sure you ask for a table upstairs as we sat downstairs which was ok but not as nice as the upstairs room. The menu is a bit convoluted.... doing the voyage around India thing, and we didn't have time to read it all (it's a book!) as we were chatting too much, so we just plunged in and ordered - as a consequence we didn't know why portion size to expect as it all seemed random, but that didn't matter - it was all delicious, fragrant and beautifully presented.

Highly recommended and will definitely come back.
