“Possibly the best meal....ever!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2014

Was in Whits last night for a birthday dinner with my boyfriend. The service was attentive and friendly without being in the least bit overbearing. The atmosphere was a little quieter than I'm used to, but was charming for the quiet chatter of conversation... The food however is the real star of this restaurant... from start to finish, my meal was sublime.

Starting with smoked duck breast, it was presented beautifully and combined with the pickled cherries, the flavours were great. My main of pot roast venison was utterly wonderful. The meat was generous, perfectly cooked, and combined with the root vegetable tatin and truffle spätzli the flavours were just great. Every mouthful was delicious, different and exciting. I couldn't imagine how it could be made any better. Perfect!!

Dessert was a fine apple tart with Calvados sorbet. Again, this was beautifully presented and perfectly made. It rounded off the meal perfectly.

Every plateful I received was bursting with flavour and attention to detail. I felt that a lot of love and consideration had gone into every aspect of each dish, and this made the experience really special. I left the restaurant feeling utterly full, content and very happy - what more you you ask for in a dinner?!! Will definitely be back.

“A jewel”

We went to the restaurant on a Saturday without a reservation and got the last table available. Service and food were excellent. It was a little slow but didn't bother us at all as we enjoyed the whole experience. Lady owner was very friendly and accommodating and the food was superb and not overly expensive. Would definitely go back. Ambience was also very warm and inviting on a cold night

“By chance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

My friend and I had been in London on business, and had been drinking in a pub for a few hours after we had concluded our meetings.
We gained a serious appetite but didn't fancy the pubs menu, this being so we had a quick look on tripadvisor and saw whits was fairly close by.
We looked at the website and promptly caught a cab over.
We went straight in for a rib-eye and a halibut dish, both were absolutely delicious.
We were amazed at the value for money offered considering the exquisite nature of both the dishes.
We managed to just about squeeze a desert in and again both were amazing, and we were surprised to learn that the soufflé recipe was gluten free.
The wine was simple but delicious.
In all an absolute gem. I can't wait to bring my wife.
