We ate lunch here on the 15th December, after a very poor experience at Amaya, the night before. The food was great, we were made to feel special by everybody, and I can't help smiling when I recollect our time there. We met with close family (including 2 young children) because we were only in the capital for 24 hours, so it was really important to us that everything went smoothly. They weren't shocked by the large amount of luggage we left at reception and the various arrival times of our party, and the lady at the bar made a perfect 'kir peche', despite not knowing what it was, but was happy to have a go at creating one based on my instructions.
The senior waiter coped brilliantly with the combination of fixed menus and a la carte orders. Adapting the food for the children wasn't a problem and he went out of his way to find an unoaked chardonnay that fit the bill. Unlike our experience, he was spontaneously forthcoming on the secrets of the tandoor - we have owned one for over 20 years, and have struggled to get accurate information in the past - of course, by now we know of which we speak!
The set menu was very reasonably priced, but more importantly, great to look at and great to eat. My favourite was the chicken tikka done in 3 different marinades from the a la carte. It tasted heavenly and was very similar to some of my home made chicken tikka - no colouring and you can identify the different fresh ingredients of the marinade.
Zaika, I don't think I've ever given full marks before, so you must be doing something, or everything right!
