We are normally big fans of Sunday Sumo Sushi. We came to the Soho branch but were very disappointed.
Poor food selection
In the one hour we were there, the staff only added around 3 or 4 batches of new plates. Around 30mins of our time there were spent waiting for new plates to be put on the belt, there was an obvious lack of standard fish sushi plates such as salmon sushi. The only fish we saw was salmon, no tuna or any other fish. The only plates on the belt were just green plates such as edamame.
Poor staff service
We commented to the staff about the lack of new plates, only to be greeted by a smile and he walked away as if nothing happened. We complained to him again more explicitly, and were offered a plate of salmon sashimi each, which had actually sat in their kitchen since we arrived. The remaining sashimi plates were still in the kitchen when we left at 2:30pm. Are the staff saving these for themselves for after the lunch time rush?
We were especially disappointed as we came with a family member who was visiting London for the weekend. There seemed to be a reluctance to serve the Sunday Sumo customers any decent food, and the staff were not very attentative.
