We were recently wanting an inexpensive and authentic Japanese meal in central London and we were not disappointed by our trip to Tokyo Diner. The food is decent, the servings generous and there are a lot of different options to choose from. We loved the plum wine and free tea. I like the no tip policy and was impressed by their commitment to only serve sustainably sourced fish (hence why there is no tuna on the menu - quite rare for Japanese restaurants). Don't go if you're after a fine dining experience but if you want delicious Japanese food and don't want to spend too much, then by all means check it out!

This is the perfect place when you find yourself thinking of a place to go on a weekend, and you have not booked nor do you want to spend too much. No reservations, reasonable price and healthy food make up for the Spartan decor (very tiny chairs!) and the limited choice in the menu. Skip the sushi and go for the real Japanes dishes, especially the soups are delicious.

This is a great place for a quick meal and a chat, or a rendezvous before going to the cinema or theatre. My personal favourites are the Japanese curries....especially chicken, but also the vegetable dish! Please try some of the noodles too,or their bento, mmmhhh!! The owner is English but the staff are all Japanese. Upstairs can be a little cramped when busy but there is also a downstairs basement with larger tables. Check it out!

We called in or a quick meal before the theatre, on a trip advisor recommendation, and we weren't disappointed. Fresh fish, sticky rice and chicken teriyaki, perfection.
Great value too!

That just sums it up for me. There was nothing about this place that I did not enjoy. I ate sushie and soba noodles. My friend, Japanese food virgin, had the vegetarian bento box which she loved. The waiting staff were charming and it was incredible value for money.
