“Disappointing”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

The Grille agreed to seat us under the condition that we had to vacate the table in 105 minutes. We don't linger during dinner but the entrees did. The staff even apologized for the very long wait for the entrees, and after that, one steak entree was very undercooked and tough. Then after taking forever for the entrees, they reminded us with the dessert menus that they wanted the table in 15 minutes. It was just a rude approach for a place that should know better. Then when we declined dessert in the face of the crass reminder, they seemed surprise, insisting that we could fit dessert in. We are staying at The Savoy - paying their rent this month, which they could have and should have noted and provided better, more gracious service.

“Good Sunday lunch but ........”
Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

The setting is fantastic but I suppose after a £220m refurbishment so it should be! Our starter was from the set menu, which while good value mine (a salmon dish) gave the impression of being made to a price; my wife's goats cheese & beetroot dish apparently tasted as good as it looked. Our main course was rib of beef from the trolley, a classic Sunday lunch and a lovely piece of meat. The vegetables (two roast potatoes & some cabbage with a few pine nuts) were however limited and boring. The meal generally could have been hotter. My dessert, bread & butter pudding was a stodgy disappointment but my wife's lemon tart was good. The staff were excellent, friendly, efficient & very professional and the cost overall was not unreasonable. The disappointment was that it could have so easily have been so much better.

“An Enjoyable Evening!”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

We had been looking forward to our visit to the Savoy Grill and were not disappointed. Service was fantastic, scallops excellent as was the halibut! Wine can be expensive but there are more modest choices. We hope to return again soon!

“Nice Treat”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

My partner booked the Savoy Grill for a suprise birthday meal for me. We were greeted by friendly staff and were seated immeidiatly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was fantastic and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. Food was very nice however as my partner rightly pointed out, it was not outstanding. Wine was a reasonable price with a lovely bottle of White for £25. A couple of down sides, you are charged £2 each service charge which is fine but they also add a further discretionary 12% service charge to the bill. We asked for this to be removed as we preferred to leave a cash tip. (probably not the done thing in The Savoy but never mind!) also my partner told me that he had emailed the restaurant before our visit to inform them that we were dining there for a special occaision however they did not even send a courtious email to acknowledge this. Overall this restaurant was a lovely special treat with excellent staff, lovely food and a lovely atmosphere.

“A fabulous pre theatre lunch”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Like Kimmieb46 we went to celebrate my mother's birthday. The service was amazing, the staff ultra efficient and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.
If you like Art Deco, you have to look at the museum. Lots of people were taking photos And the staff didn't mind at all. The ambiance , the service, the decor all first class. Affordable lunch for that special occasion, or just afternoon tea to take a break from shopping in Coventry Garden.
It really was a memorable day.
