“Authentic Hearty Georgian Food in London”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

What a find! From the outside you wouldn't know this was a Georgian restaurant (unless you knew Tbilisi). The restaurant is family run, the food is so delicious with a good variety of meat and vegetarian dishes and authentic Georgian wine to boot! Not far from upper street and a great choice if you are looking for something a bit different to the usual.

“Don't let the niggles put you off...”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

I fell in love with Georgian food when I visited there this year and was pleased to renew my delight in the rich flavours again. Our meal was as good as expected. The unusual mezze style starters were a promising beginning.

The niggles: the wine did seem overpriced and there should have been more options for wine by the glass, so people could get a good selection of different wines. Likewise how about a chacha signature cocktail?

Any chance of some vegetarian khinkali?

The decor is a bit plain and somewhat offputting if you don't know how good the food is going to be.

My advice is to give it a try.

“Best Georgian I've been to in London”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

I first went here about a year ago, as I had wanted to try Georgian food for some time. I was also planning on taking a holiday to Tbilisi, so thought a visit here would be a great opportunity to sample the food and some culture.
Khachapuri is great here, and is a must for anyone wanting to try Georgian food, (and having been to Georgia now, it is amazing how much of a staple this is to their diet). I was bold and tried the Khinkali, which are initially a little tricky, but once you've mastered how to eat them, I think they're one of the greatest foods on Earth!
Lots of authentic Georgian wines and Borjomi sparkling water (a fellow traveller in Georgia likened its taste to an ashtray), but it is worth a try, just for a laugh!
This is the cheapest Georgian in London, and in my opinion the best, staff are very friendly too!

“A grower”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

Georgian food is rare in the UK - most people probably think you're talking about the era in history rather than the country in the Caucuses. I've enjoyed my visits to Tbilisi and the other two Georgian restaurants in Islington. And now having been to Georgia, I can say that it is full of authentic flavour.

Starters are delicate mixes of mainly veg (such as beetroot, green beans, walnuts, pomegranate). The best bit of Georgian cuisine for me is the bread. Khachatpuri (flatbread stuff with warm cheese) and lobiani (flatbread stuffed with warmed, ground beans) are both delicious and very filling. Be sure to get some.

The mains consist mainly of different stews for meat eaters and a couple of veggie options. Or if you're hungry and more bold, try the khinkahli dumplings!

Price was reasonable for London. Service was good and cosy. There's never more than a few other diners there. Well worth a good particularly if you've not tried Georgian before.
