“good value, good service, good food”

Tasty Turkish fare - especially the all in meal for around £15. perfectly cooked calamiri without a hint of rubber, and great lamb casserole. Pleasant staff too.

“Busy Restaurant... Good Food!”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Three of us went to Tas for dinner last night at about 7:30pm. As we expected it was extremely busy, with lots of large groups including a couple of birthday parties. We were seated after a couple of minutes on the main floor. We tried a few meze dishes along with a couple of main courses, all brought out together. The food was lovely... the iskender, spinach salad, and spicy sausage were all highlights. There was a reasonable wine and beer list, and found a decent malbec that went well with the dishes. The only real complaint was that the restaurant was very, very loud. I don't think it was just the big groups. Service was attentive but not overbearing. We will be back, maybe just not on a busy Saturday night.

“Could've been better.”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

I attended a Xmas dinner here with 8 other people. Everyone had nothing but good to say about this restaurant before we went, and a few people in our group had even been to this restaurant before, so they could vouch for how good the food was. Unfortunately, most of us were let down this weekend.

The starters were pretty good. In a way, the starters teased us because we expected the mains to be even better. Personally, my Xmas main choice was quite good - halibut with potatoes, onions, peppers, tomatoes, garlic, and white wine. Another person had chicken with couscous as their main, if I remember correctly, and she said that hers was quite good also. But the rest of the group were sorely disappointed with their lamb dishes, to the point that one person got most of their money back, and the others who chose lamb dishes barely touched their plates after a few bites.

The service was also a bit off. We had to move around a few times because even though the booking was made well in advance, the 9 of us were seated at a small table cramped into a corner downstairs at the very back of the restaurant. It's too bad because the restaurant has a nice interior, and it's also quite a popular restaurant. The person who made the reservation for us spoke to the restaurant's manager afterwards, but management weren't very accepting of our concerns. I felt bad because only 2 of us enjoyed our food (we clearly did well not to choose lamb), so that made the experience disappointing for the 2 of us also.

I don't know if this was an "off" day for the restaurant or what, but most of the group weren't pleased. This didn't live up to the expectations given to us. Either stick to chicken or fish if you go, or avoid this place altogether. Personally, because of my friends' experiences, I won't go again.
