We walked from Hammersmith down by the side of the Thames on a lovely sunny day and into this splendid bright restaurant filled with eager ,willing staff and an eclectic mix of diners .
Stunning starters of carpaccio and herb salad with glorious nutty olive oil . The carpaccio was like no other roughly cut ,fresh and tender . My main of roasted monkfish ,obviously cooked in a wood burning oven , was full of rich warm flavours and just so different ,never had monkfish like it before.
Great choice of white wine .
Tables are a little cramped but that all adds to the buzzy atmosphere.
Will return ASAP

In the middle of nowhere and still fantastric after all these years. Everything is excellent from the first to the last, and it still ioffers the joy and wonder of those great trailblazing cookery books brought to life. Foody heaven.

Simply there is nothing I could fault here. Very attentive and passionate staff, simple and honest food a bit expensive but absolutely worth every penny.

Wonderful, authentic food that is all about flavours. For me, this establishment really stands out because of the high quality ingredients prepared with passion and simplicity means that one can tell exactly what has been used and how it has been cooked. We loved the atmosphere and found the staff to be enthusiastic, intelligent, knowledgeable and offering excellent service. I also heartily approve of the portion size as often in high end establishments I feel cheated and sometimes leave hungry.

The River Cafe is still brilliant after all these years.

Finally I had the opportunity to visit the world famous restaurant. The food was good, not great. I was taken by surprise as to how many tables were crammed into such a small space, it was hard to move your chair without annoying your neighbour. The staff were very attentive at times you did get the feeling they were trying to turn us around a little too fast so take your time and enjoy your food. And very expensive, particularly the wine
