Signore Riva runs a great Italian place in the center of Barnes. Absolutely fabulous, original Italian food, creatively put together menu, and always tons of daily specials to chose from. Small, but well selected wine list. The place looks like it has been transplanted from Milano or Torino, the atmosphere is lively (reserve!) and it is not a formal place - so expect families and friends out for dinner rather than business dinners. Only criticism: slightly too pricey for what it is. But then again - I keep coming back

What a little gem of a local Restaurant. Exquisite Italian food cooked to perfection. Not an overly complicated menu, just simple, quality dishes cooked with love and attention. My husband and I booked for a Sunday lunch and it was perfect. A medium sized, clean venue that has considered all the small details; down to the flowers in the toilets! Clearly experienced staff who know the menu and wines, make dining a pleasure. Could not fault this Restaurant. Quality food at reasonable prices (that is for London prices!). HIghly recommend.

It is always a treat to eat here. Yes the menu is small and it is expensive but you always feel that a meal here is a special occasion

Riva has been around for more than twenty years. It is a genuine and well thought out Italian restaurant whose dishes are based on the North Italian traditions of its distinguished owner Andrea Riva. Specials of the day are always worth having and the wine list is exceptional ( Andrea Riva is a real connoisseur of wine.) The pasta dishes are superb and if you hurry you may just get white truffles.

We had heard so much about Riva and visited with some friends from Barnes on Saturday night.

The place looked as if it hadn't seen a lick of paint in years and was so tired.

The front windows from the inside had a very dated 80's looking paint effect and the walls were covered in what looked like the sort of £5 arcitectural pictures that you see as an unsold lot in a cheap house clearance.

The place was dark and dingy with exceptional uncomfortable chairs it just looked tired inside and so uninspriring.

The starters look unusual to say the least. My friend had a deep fried fig with an assortment of things one of which looked like cheese Quavers, most odd. My wife had a dish that has a selection of items one was beetroot with some kind of fish on Polenta. The adiding thought was that these things do not go together.

The food was not great and at £150 per couple including wine was a joke and not worth even half that much.

My advise is save you money and a good night out and go to Sonnys instead, we wont be going back in this life.
