“Thoroughly enjoyable”
Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

Had an early evening meal before going to the theatre with the family on New Years Day. Restaurant was quiet when we arrived, service prompt and a great choice of fish dishes. We have visited a couple if Loch Fyne restaurants in the past in different parts of the country, this was by far our best experience. Good food, good service, lovely atmosphere.

“Great Food - Lacks Atmosphere”
Reviewed December 31, 2013

We booked at short notice as we wanted somewhere reliable in the area. We were initially shown to a very small table for 2, but requested a move to a larger table having had problems with space on small tables before (shuffling glasses, bottles, etc to accomodate dishes). Good choices on the menu and some specials too. We opted for Mussels and Potted Mackerel starters - both excellent, though slow to arrive. We both had Sea Bream for main - one with scallops, one pan-fried. Though the flavours were good, the pan-fried was overdone and had become "mushy", and neither had been properly deboned.
Be warned that the nature of the decor - open and tiled - means that it does become very noisy ... so not ideal for an intimate meal for 2, though doubtless popular with the pre- and post-theatre crowd. Good value for the area, and very conveniently located.

“Good Seafood Selections in Covent Garden”
Reviewed December 31, 2013

My husband and I dropped in for lunch on a blustery December day. The restaurant was about a third full and seemed clean if a bit cold with tiled floors and walls. Otherwise, the ambience was pleasant and service friendly. Unfortunately there was no beer available on tap, but our drinks arrived quickly as we reviewed the menu which offered a nice selection of seafood and a few non-fish choices.

My Seafood Pie was rich and rustic looking with chunks of Salmon, Whitefish and Oyster. It was served with tasty Mashed Potato and Broccolini. My husband's ample Haddock and Chips had a delicious thin, crispy Tempura Batter and first rate Chips.

Food was well priced for the location and as lunchtime progressed, Loch Fyne filled up with young families. A good choice for seafood lovers.

“Good food let down by chaotic service”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

After enjoying the Winchester Loch Fyne, we thought we'd try this London one - what a disappointing contrast it was. The service was chaotic throughout the meal, with long gaps and then food and drink from one course arriving at the same time as another. Part of the problem seemed to be that the person taking the orders had nothing to do with bringing them to the table - so no-one seemed aware of which tables were being served or whether their orders had arrived. This was after the main pre-theatre rush so there was no real reason for the delays and confusion. The food itself was fine, but I can't recommend eating here compared to the ambience and attentive service of the one in Winchester.
