Good for: Business meetings, Romantic, Special occasions
Dining options: Dinner, Lunch, Late Night, Breakfast, Delivery, Reservations
Neighborhood: Mayfair
Description: The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.

Visited this establishment for lunch and cannot fault the service, food or value. The whole thing was a complete delight. Fantastic.

Our 2nd visit - this time to celebrate our silver wedding. We went for the Menu Exceptional with the accompanying wines. My favourite dish was the black pudding and crumbled egg and my wife rated the stone bass very highly. All 9 courses were excellent and the dessert course included a piped "happy anniversary" which was a nice touch. Service was very friendly and efficient. Can't wait for that next special occasion.

My wife and I dined here on Thursday evening to celebrate a special occasion. The menu exceptionnel lived up to the billing. The accompanying wines were superbly chosen and deliciously spot-on. We loved the ambience and were hugely impressed by the quality of the service. We've dined at a couple of 1* places in the last 12 months and loved them both, but this place is a cut above. It isn't cheap, of course - with aperitifs, water and service charge we paid £428 - so it's certainly a place for a special treat rather than everyday dining. That said, we'll certainly be back!

So I have read a few mixed reviews here. My experience was life changing. Not only was the food fantastic, the staff went out of their way to make me feel very special and very welcome. Yes it is generally expensive, but they have more pocket friendly options as well; so if you order clever, you can leave without a hole in your belly and pocket.
