“A tad dated”

Neighborhood: Mayfair
Description: The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.

This very well established restaurant is still polished with excellent service, however, the dishes feel a tad dated and there are no real wows here anymore. Excellent wines on offer.

We went for a special occasion and we were not disappointed. From the moment we entered till the moment we left, we felt like we were being pampered. The service, the staff and of course the reason we were there....the Food, were all impeccable. This was definetely a meal to be as as savoured. The menu is a delight and the wine list is just superb. The wait staff and the attention to detail were second to none. It is not easy finding a top notch restaurant that ticks all the boxes, but this one does. If you are looking for a real treat then I would highly recommend this restaurant. You will be enjoying the memories long after you have gone.

The reputation of Le Gavroche made us book a table for lunch during a trip to London to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. It was a wise decision and gave us an experience that we will not forget!

From the moment we walked through the door, the service, the drink and the food were unsurpassable and the icing on the cake (as it were) was meeting Michel Roux Jr himself at the end of the meal.

Sublime!

Service, ambience, sense of occasion and then there's the food which remains unsurpassed. A special place for special occasions

My 50th birthday celebration saw us 17,000km from home, dining at Le Gavroche in London, the culmination of 4 weeks of touring Italy, France and the UK.

In short, the experience was superb.

Food was fantastic - lots of choice, cooked to perfection, wonderfully presented and served with flair.

Wine flowed - to describe the wine list as both extensive and impressive understates the reality. Fortunately, the sommelier offers unpretentious guidance towards both affordable and memorable options. In vino veritas!

Service was flawless - quick, attentive and efficient. Special dietary requests were met without the fuss or angst we experienced in many of Le Gavroche's French peers.

Hospitality was genuine - at every stage we made to feel welcome, amplified by Michael Roux Jnr's visit to our table and accompanying birthday wishes.

As close to a perfect meal as I have experienced in my half century. Leaves me wondering what a third Michelin star would bring.
