Perfect place to celebrate something good!
Food is amazing, setting gorgeous, neighbourhood amazing.
But of course this comes at a cost! Expect to spend min £80 each. However it's worth it.
Lunch and theatre deals are ok, but once you have tried the real menu, it is impossible to get back to those deals which are less interesting on the pallet.

Only very big downside, they will charge you the rip off 12.5% service charge. That you can of course refuse. But when you are with a client or on a date, it is really tricky to ask.
I personally think that it shouldn't be the case in a restaurant of that caliber. Very cheap practice.
Hope it will change in the future.

“Incredible Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

We enjoyed the set lunch menu and thought it good value considering the impeccable ingredients and quality of cooking. The service was wonderful and the design of the room is actually very good considering the awkward layout of the space.
The restaurant serves perfectly for both business and romance, all in all this is a very polished operation with exceedingly tasty food!

“Perfect birthday lunch!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

I booked lunch as part of a couple of days in London for my husband's birthday. We had a limited amount of time, as we had to catch a train back home, which wasn't ideal, but the restaurant rose to the challenge admirably. In fact, pretty much everything about our lunch was perfect. The amuse bouche was a spiced lentil foam with a more-soup like base. It was delectable. When I described it to my young son later on he said, "oh! It's a little like going from the clouds to the earth." Yes, that was just about what it was like, except far tastier. We then had the fixed price 3 course menu. My husband had the sardine starter, meat cooked 2 ways main, and custard tart and citrus ice cream. I had the vegetable starter, John Dory with fennel, and chocolate souffle. Every item was perfectly cooked and artfully presented - each was excellently balanced. Service was attentive and thoughtful, exactly what one would expect for a Michelin starred restaurant. They even had a small lit candle and "Happy Birthday" spelled out in chocolate sauce for my husband. All this in less than an hour and a half. Well done Launceston Place!

“Superb dinner, fantastic value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

We went here as a group of four, two celebrating birthdays on the Evening Standard menu.

Considering we were on a far cheaper set menu than the a la carte, we were treated wonderfully. A lot of places doing deals or discounts often tend to hurry you and neglect you in terms of filling wine, timing etc. Not here. We felt every bit as welcome and important as the other guests.

The Evening Standard deal was £30 per head for 3 courses & a glass of champagne (which was lovely) each. However before we even got to that stage we had been given aperitifs and an amuse bouche, all of which were a lovely surprise and incredibly delicious. the set menu itself differed from what we'd seen on the ES website but this in my opinions meant they were changing the menu in keeping with the fresh/seasonal ingredients they had available to them and that in my eyes can only be a good thing.

Between the four of us we sampled the Salmon and Sardine starters, all of which were lovely. Throughout the meal we were offered extra fresh bread and essentially as much as we'd like had we'd wanted more.
For the mains two had the beef and two the Hake and again both were delicious. Like the starters they were good sizes, not too small and not too large either as all the food was very flavoursome and rich.

To end we had the chocolate souffle which was incredible, 2 of which came out with birthday candles. This was a lovely touch, fun for the table but discreet enough not to be embarrassing in front of the rest of the restaurant.

To accompany the meal we only had 1 bottle of wine (the cheapest @ £25) but that too was lovely and with out free champagne we didn't need any more. I would also note that we weren't sneered at for the request of table water either, something I've experienced many times in far less impressive restaurants.

Overall it cost us approximately £42 per head including service charge which we thought was incredibly good value for money.

Lovely food, fantastic service and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

“Evening Standard menu ,a hit.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

My wife and I have eaten in this restaurant a number of times now.We arrived to find the restaurant full ,a first for us.One of the beauties of this restaurant is that even when full it is not noisy .The service last night was up to its usual high standard and the food was excellent .The chef Tim Allen and his team not only create food that tastes fantastic but also looks great. The wine list is extensive but when only one of you drinks I wish there could be a larger choice of wines by the glass .We had the Evening Standard menu .For the princely sum of £ 30 each we got a three course meal and a glass of champagne ,truly outstanding value .
