This was our first visit to the LG and we arrived for an early dinner to avoid the rush hour madness. We hadn’t booked a table but the staff was very accommodating and we were seated at one of the corner tables. The place has a nice ambience, cosy feel to it and the menu offers a good range for everyone including vegetarians.
We both had the Confit belly of pork with apple puree and a Hog’s, black pudding and pork sausage roll followed by the Aberdeen Angus beef burger, melted cheese and hand cut chips and green salad; and Roasted cauliflower and three cheese macaroni with Somerset brie, goat’s cheese and mature cheddar. The food was delicious and my husband was pleasantly surprised that the juicy burger with cheese was served in the bun on its own and was not ‘contaminated’ with any salad garnish like they often serve them in other places. Small pleasures, I know. We finished our dinner with the Milk jam ice cream with hot chocolate fudge sauce and pralines. It tasted like a deconstructed snickers bar. Very yummy.
The staff was welcoming and unintrusive, the food was lovely and if we lived in the neighbourhood this would be our default place for quick drinks and leisurely breakfasts or lunch and dinners. We will be back. Well done to LG team!
