Description: La Trompette opened in 2001 and serves some of the best food in London but without the formality or prices associated with the capital’s top end establishments. We closed at the beginning of 2013 for a complete refurbishment, and have expanded to include a brand new kitchen, private dining and improved customer facilities. The new appearance has not changed the focus of the restaurant. The aim is as it always has been, to give all our guests the best possible dining experience from start to finish.

“Great food shame about the Attitude”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

We have been regularly to , and enjoyed eating at , La Trompette , since it opened to replace ( good news ) La Dordogne in the Millennium year. And we are fans. As we are of the Glasshouse, its sister restaurant. Rob Weston is a fantastic chef and Chiswick is lucky to have such a restaurant . And so it is a shame that we are loathe to recommend La Trompette to first time visitors. But the service is now poor , the choice of food on the menu is self indulgently limited and the cost has increased along with the smugness of the maitre d' .

And so what was always a very pleasant experience has become less so . Little things highlight this such as the reluctance to accommodate one of our guests' food preferences or the owners' refusal to say on the menu that there is a choice of one or two courses if one does not want all three courses for the set price ( plus supplement in some cases ) . Or having to ask more than once for missing wine glasses . And then on the ( £500 for 6 people ) bill the "optional" service charge is added as a matter of course without reference to it being discretionary or the fact it represents 12,5% of the bill . And this after we spend the whole meal serving our own water and wine.

Consider the excellent Quantus restaurant opposite for half the price where they are delighted to see you rather than expecting you to be delighted to see them or if you want a 5 star experience go to River Café. It is harder to get in than La Trompette but for a reason. It delivers and La Trompette , currently, does not.

“Fantastic service and food!”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

We visit every year on our anniversary, and this visit was just as special as our first. I had the lamb for main and chocolate pavė for dessert, both courses were delicious. The homemade chocolate truffles are to die for! We will be back next year without fail! Loving the new decor, especially the English Bull Terrier prints on the back wall. :-)

“Never disappoints”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

We had a mid week lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. As always the food was mouth watering and seasonal and the staff, especially the sommelier, knowledgeable and welcoming. It is so much better value for money than other equivalent restaurants in London and even in Chiswick with a set price menu and an extensive wine list of different price ranges. I love the new decor which as a guest feels more spacious and contemporary although at times the staff seem to be tripping over each other.

“Great food, great service, affordable price”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

went for the first time today and really enjoyed it - food was great, with a huge amount of choice and a decent portion size for a lunch deal.

My favourite thing about the place was the ethos and ambiance - helpful staff and a relaxed informal atmosphere, not stuffy and pretentious at all. Also, there was a quite a big gap between courses, which is my personal preference: I don't like being rushed in and out like they are trying to turn a table.

Overall I thoroughly recommend it and works especially well in a group, and very affordable for the quality - around £160 for four inc 1 bottle of wine, three courses and the service charge (bread, amaretti biscuits and filtered water was free). Personally I've paid similar in fairly plain restaurants around London, and one that basis I'll certainly return to La Trompette.
